Zip_ME87
http://www.ohio.com/editorial/douglas/port...vation-1.356529 EDIT: The Portland Timbers also noticed the editorial: http://www.portlandtimbers.com/blog/post/2...odel-innovation It is an essential read into learning just how much Porter meant to the Akron community but also a testament to what his soccer vision could mean to his new home in Portland. jem101
 This was outstanding. Sums up my thoughts perfectly. Let's hope Embick can carry on this model successfully.

Z.I.P.
Awesome editorial Michael Douglas! I just read the editorial... Wow! That was great. And I have to ask...what kind of contribution could it make to American soccer if writers with the knowledge of Mr. Douglas were focused predominantly on that game (is there anything more important, after all?). IOW, I know it would be a demotion but the Beacon NEEDS qualitative and quantitative improvement on its coverage of the sport. I don't know if he's a Hoya or a Hooser, but Michael could really contribute to the game we all love, if he would contribute more... Just saying. fknbuflobo
I will be surprised and disappointed if there is less than a capacity crowd at the Porter farewell. We owe him.
fknbuflobo
I suppose this is the place for it. There is a conversation on BigSoccer regarding establishment of College Soccer Hall Of Fame, and whether Caleb Porter merits inclusion within that hall. http://www.bigsoccer.com/community/forums/...teur-soccer.43/

Sandon Mibut is no longer HQ'd in Uniontown? AND -- there's a reference on BigSoccer that Fox Soccer Channel is dieing. I would call it homicide, personally. Death by Fox network idiocy. MLS already is screwed with the lack of coverage, now the NCAA loses the NSCAA Game of the Week. Don't tell me football/(soccer) isn't in trouble in the USA! Ando
FSC is rebranding not because soccer isn't being broadcast, it's because they have virtually no soccer to play they lost the EPL to NBC, and NBC already had the lion's share of MLS games. the year before they also lost the rights to Serie A also FSC had terrible production quality. not especially sorry to see it go; hope they step it up a little by the world cup

bobbyake
MLS already is screwed with the lack of coverage MLS TV coverage has increased since they left FSC. NBC Sports does a much better job covering the games. Also, you can watch just about every MLS game with MatchDay Live.
