Interview: DeAndre Yedline at the SuperDraft I like DeAndre's response to the question about Akron vs Indiana in 2012

MLSSoccer.com Interview: DeAndre Yedlin I always love the questions concerning UA

What a great commercial for Zips Soccer! Both interviews.

Those Sounders scarves are really cool!

Speaking of the Sounders, some discussion with Steve Zakuani and others on first day or training camp. Also in the video at 2:12 - 2:16 Steve working out in the foreground and DeAndre in the background.

Michael Nanchoff, formerly of the Vancouver Whitecaps and a former player under Caleb Porter at Akron, is listed as a non-roster player on the Timbers' preseason roster, but was not at practice today.

I read that report too before I stumbled on this photo of Nanchoff in a Timbers kit.

Did anyone catch up on the comment about Steve's international comp? When did he ever play for DR of Congo?

I can't find the match statistics, but he played in a friendly against Mali. I know his brother is currently on the team playing in the African Cup of Nations. I'm pretty sure Steve is still eligible to play for either of the three since it was a Friendly. Congo DR, England, and the USA.

Well, for one thing, DR Congo = Democratic Republic of Congo. DUH! Not a club at all!

Right On.

I asked Zakuani face to face if he ever intended to be capped by USA. He evaded the question.

Work Ahead for Seattle Rookie

Good article; here's how it starts...

INDIANAPOLIS — The rise of academies caused an unusual situation during last week’s Major League Soccer SuperDraft because not one player from the University of Akron was called to the podium.

Akron was still well represented at the Indiana Convention Center. The former head coach Caleb Porter was on duty with the Portland Timbers, and the homegrown signings Scott Caldwell of the New England Revolution and DeAndre Yedlin of the Seattle Sounders were in attendance. ...

A mark against the Crew, in my opinion...

A NEW FACE IN CAMP

To begin Sunday morning's training session in Bradenton, Fla., Robert Warzycha asked Justin Meram to introduce a new face in the preseason camp.

"Guys, this is Konrad Warzycha. He's from Columbus and he went to Ohio State. He's here to train with us," the former Michigan Wolverine announced. ...

"[Konrad] is another one of our players. I don't see any difference. I'm "Dad" at home and on the field, I am the coach," the Head Coach echoed.

For those who may not remember, Konrad received a red card for kicking the ball into Darlington's face after D had been taken down and was lying on the ground in our match at tOSWho in 2010. It appears the younger Warzycha couldn't make it in KC.

"[Konrad] is another one of our players"... If he were anyone else, would HC Warzycha have made such a show of introducing him? Interesting to see if he makes the roster.

I wonder what Chad and Ben were thinking when Konrad was being introduced.

Last night Tommy Schmitt, Blair Gavin, and Billy Berger (if you don't know who he is, you're not a real zips fan) were at Manny's during the US game. Thought it was weird that Blair was in town since he was supposedly on trial with Seattle Sounders. Crew8 had a word with him and apparently he is injured again. How does this guy get his career back on track? I feel bad for him, he was supposed to be big, but has just constantly been injured and it seems like he's just going to bounce around teams. I hope the biggest thing he ends up being known for in the end isn't just that awesome mustache he had last season.
