natemathwhiz2 Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Voter logic in a nutshell: "The Akron Zip's second longest and only other streak this season is only 3 games, so they won't get my vote" Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Just think, if a team won all of its games, it would only have one winning streak for the whole season. Quote
akronzips71 Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 When we win on Friday, we will tie the longest win streak in the Country this year, and the following win will be #19, the longest of the year for anyone. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I don't know if you guys checked out my link above (List of every AP voter's tweets), but a bunch of Zips fans have been tweeting at the voters that didn't vote for the Zips, asking for their reasoning. It's been very interesting going back and forth with them, and many of them have said that UA is on their radar and perhaps just on the outside at #26. However, several of them seemed surprised at Akron fans tweeting at them and may have been unaware of the streak. In fact, a few of them even admitted that they didn't know about Akron having two starters out for two of those losses. It may be a good thing to keep talking the Zips up and getting the word out there. Even fans can make a difference by starting a conversation. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 I hope everyone is keeping the tweets positive. Many media guys will respond well to informational tweets. But they tend to ignore crazies who question whether they've suffered brain damage. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 With #24 VCU losing tonight, I think we should gain a bit of ground. Quote
odhgibo Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 With #24 VCU losing tonight, I think we should gain a bit of ground. St. Louis had only 8 turnovers against Havoc and made life miserable for VCU all night. Eight straight wins, including two over top 25 teams. Now, they're on top of the A10. SLU could be a Sweet 16 team this year. Biggest difference between being on top of the A10 and on top of the MAC, from a quote by SLU's Dwayne Evans: "You play a big game and you [have] two days to get ready for another huge game." How many MAC games would you describe as huge? Four or five each year? Quote
RACER Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 there was nothing wrong with our schedule this year.if we don't get an at large bid it's because somebody screwed tree and harney for two games.with both of those guys in the lineup we beat c.c. easliy, and probably osu also. that puts us with only two losses, and there is no way the comittee keeps us out. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 St. Louis was just ahead of the Zips in the Coaches Poll. Beating VCU will move them further ahead. We would have been closer to a top 25 spot if St. Louis had lost. Quote
