Dave in Green Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Memphis is trying to stretch its winning streak to 19 tonight, and take over the nation's longest winning streak from the Zips. Xavier has other ideas, and is holding a 31-20 lead at halftime. Go Musketeers! Quote

As if we needed another reason to want to win tomorrow, holding the longest streak in the nation on our own adds to the fun! Quote
ksu sucks Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Akron has also been mentioned multiple times during the broadcast when Memphis' winning streak was discussed. Quote
akronzips71 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 ESPN 2 I will be watching! Quote
CincyZip Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I'm more of a UC guy when it comes to Cincy Colleges, but tonight I am a Musky! Quote
MDZip Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 The announcers said the only other smiling coach in America (other than Memphis coach Josh Pastner) is Keith Dambrot. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 Looks like it's going to be a close one to the end. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Despite that 3, the good money had to be on Memphis given X's struggles in the 2nd half (no depth). Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 X doing their best to prove me wrong Go X!!!!!!! Quote
akronzips71 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Memphis is a monster in the paint. I can see why they have that streak. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 Xavier oh so close to the upset. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Get it to Abreu or Walsh!!! Quote
RowdyZip Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Way to go, X! Anyone want to complain about free throws? Teams combine for 19/41 from the line. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 What a bonehead play on the inbounds (when they still had a 4 point lead). If they throw it deep down the court the game would be over. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 That was the longest last few seconds ever. Quote
bigzipguy Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
akronzips71 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 That was the longest last few seconds ever. We have a better coach. With 5 seconds left there should have been no drama. Quote
johnnyzip84 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Fear the Roo in Akron, Ohio - Home of the Zips!! Quote
GoZips88 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 THAT was easy! Glad to see X finally go long down the court. Now ... BEAT OHIO !!! Quote
MDZip Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Nice to hear the streak belongs to Akron again at the end of the game but other than that it doesn't mean much. Minnesota upset Indiana and they are in contention for an at-large with the Zips. Well regardless, it's almost time to see if the Zips have earned their spot. Quote
K92 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 @JZ84, I am glad to see I am not the only one who was tickled by that statement. Quote
Dave in Green Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 CINCINNATI -- Brad Redford hit a long 3-pointer that put Xavier back ahead after wasting a 13-point lead, and the Musketeers beat No. 19 Memphis 64-62 on Tuesday night, ending the Tigers' 18-game winning streak. ..... ..... The Tigers (24-4) scored only 20 points in the first half -- their lowest-scoring half of the season -- and got dominated on the boards, ending a couple of notable streaks. Their 18-game winning streak was tied with Akron for longest in the nation. ..... Quote
K92 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I have an idea for a poll question: At your place of employment, how tired are your co-workers of the following phrase? "Fear the Roo in Akron,Ohio - Home of the Zips!!" I think the majority of the people at my employer would respond with PRETTY DAMN TIRED. Bad news for them is if the Zips win tonight, the cheerleading outbursts from Keener are only going to get more frequent and boisterous. FEAR THE ROOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Quote
