LosAngelesZipFan Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 1) How did BG get the game at Cleveland Stadium?2) Why is OSU playing 2 MAC schools this year as well as Cincy? 3) How did "our" BC home game end up at Central Michigan? (There were lots of rumors in Dec. that we had that game)4) How did Can't get a home game against Minnesota? Here's my concern... scheduling seems odd for 2006 for lots of schools. Unfortunately it feels like UA's schedule is off strategically-- we've got no big name home opponent in while other MAC schools, including Can't of all things, actually has a Big Ten school. Quote
ZipDude Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Interesting questions, I will wait for an answer. Quote
zipsbandman Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I can answer all of those1) The game was scheduled when BG was actually a MAC "power". This game is a disaster waiting to happen.2) because they are pansies3) Central would be an easier win for them4) All Minnesota needs to do to win this one is show up :screwks:Moral of the story:BCS schools are wimps and will be drawn to the easier opponent to get their bowl eligibility. mrelegazna Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I can (non-snarkily) answer 2 and 4. Don't know enough about 1 and 3.2) Originally it was gonna be @Texas, Cincy and NIU. It's pretty much par for the course for Big BCS teams (there are some exceptions like Florida State, pre-ACC) to schedule two allegedly easy OOC games for every "hard" OOC game, especially a road game like the Texas game will be. So then they announced only fairly recently that the schedules would be expanded to 12 games effective immediately, which made everyone scramble for one more opponent and created some interesting matchups. As an aside, I'll say to the OSU haters on this board, you can't have it both ways: Ohio State can't be pansies if they play MAC schools or unfair/scared if they don't play MAC schools. Anytime a big name school schedules MAC games I'm happy for the opportunity.4) Big Deal. We have Syracuse coming in a few years. We've had Virginia Tech in the past, while they were nationally ranked. I haven't looked into it but this may well be a 1-for-2 or something like that.. It just happens their 1 is this year. Even if it's not, I'm still not impressed. Minnesota football is not very profitable, they have a bad stadium situation, and they take deals that other Big Ten schools wouldn't because they are more "fair" or they just suck more. I'm leaning towards the latter. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 4) How did Can't get a home game against Minnesota? Glenn Mason used to coach K-ent. And, they have quite a few Ohio kids on their roster. I think Mason is helping out his former employer and also saying "Thank You" to some of his NE Ohio players by giving them a game near their home. Quote
Balki Bartokomous Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Minnesota: 246Can't: -6Can't finds a way to score negative points on their way to competing for the all important "worst team in college history" title. Some where Mark May has the 2005 USC Trojans beating Can't by 8^10th power Quote
ZipDude Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Thank you for your wisdom. I think the Captain's explanation of the Mason thing makes the most sense. The Pukeye answer now that the additional game issue came up makes sense there are three, but OSU considers UC as an "Ohio" school and not a MAC school, which trhey are not anyway. But, Mark Dantonio, the head coach left the Pukeeye ship and was Tressel's former D cordinator. Luke Fickell (sic)is there with Dantonio also, or at least he used to be. So there is a connection. I missed the connection on Can't being torpedoed by USC to the gazillianth power. Can someone connect the dots for me? Quote
Balki Bartokomous Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 It was ESPN's thing last year for their "expert" Mark May to compair USC to just about every team in history. As it went on, May's scores kept getting crazier and crazier. That was my guess as to what he would have said about Can't. Quote
ZipDude Posted March 30, 2006 Report Posted March 30, 2006 I see said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and sawThank you for that. I always thought Mark May was an overopinionated dick anyway. Quote
