tbozeglav
Whats the connection to UA? Either way the guy was a clown. Im sure the alumni were embarassed by him. Just imagine what we'd think of Luis P if he said the same things...
pat
Whats the connection to UA? Either way the guy was a clown. Im sure the alumni were embarassed by him. Just imagine what we'd think of Luis P if he said the same things... We played them in football two years ago. We have their former head football coach working at UA. On many occasions people post things that are not directly related to UA and you are right. Dr. P has much more class than Dr Gee. However, I find it surprising on some level since Gee is responsible for bringing in billions to OSU. I also recall a time when Gee was on our campus to discuss collaboration between Ohio public universities. Dr Proenza made a light hearted and humorous remark about UA being a powerhouse in education that could exceed OSU. Then, The Anti-University of Akron Beacon Journal published a scathing editorial condemning Dr. Proenza's statements as inappropriate and stated that UA should just settle for just being UA and not even think of coming close to OSU. Hence the paper's reputation for being The Akron Speaking Urinal. I also find it interesting that the Speaking Urinal and many media in Ohio don't seem to be carrying this story. Apparently, OSU gets away with having a grab on media's balls in Ohio.
skip-zip
I'm sad that the years of stupid statements from Gee is coming to an end. The entertainment was always priceless. What a bozo.

LZIp
Gee is a freaking idiot. Maybe needed to think before be talked a lot more than he did, but there is no denying he did his job quite well.
pat
Maybe he'll come here and work along side the vest. If he brings in the kind of cash to UA that he brought to OSU, he'd be more than worth it. It's not like Akron isn't accustom to having clowns among us when we consider our mayor and his cadre of fools!
pat
Gee is a freaking idiot. Freaking idiot? I'm sorry but until Akonites and their ilk can show that their university brings in the type of cash ($1.5 billion) that Gordon Gee brought to OSU, then no one in this city or county has the right to call Gee an idiot. Idiots are not proven professionals who garner success for the largest university in the nation as well as the state of Ohio. Loser Akronites who call Gee an idiot are themselves idiots who do not know the time of day. I'll agree that Gee should have shown restraint but to call him an idiot is so typical of the classic Akron, envious, negaholic. If you want to assign the title, idiot to people, there are a plethora of University of Akron administrators who are sucking on the public tit who deserve such a title and not Gordon Gee. Dr. Proenza, please clean house and get rid of the many loser administrators who are weighing down UA with their egomaniacal agendas and sabotaging behaviors. THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON IS FILLED WITH FREAKING IDIOTS AND OHIO STATE NOR Can't STATE FOR THAT MATTER ARE. THE TRUTH MAY HURT BUT THE TRUTH IS THE FREAKING G.D. TRUTH. THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON IS ONE CONTAMINATED INSTITUTION AND IT NEEDS A CLEANSING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM!
Dr Z
Is it possible to be smart and an idiot?
pat
Is it possible to be smart and an idiot? When you think about it, no since "Idiot" was actually a clinical description of a level of retardation in people. it ranked along with "Imbecile" yes even "moron". Imbecile has always been my favorite. When I think of "idiot" I think of the movie where Diane Keaton and Woody Allen droped their village idiot off at the Village Idiot convention in France on their way to assasinate Napolian. I recall the signe above the building where all the idiots gathered..."Welcome Idiots."
GoZips
Is it possible to be smart and an idiot? Yes, they are called idiot savants.
skip-zip
I went with "bozo", but all of those words apply. He called a tie against Michigan one of the greatest "wins" in school history. He railed on TCU and BSU for playing the "sisters of the poor", not realizing that his team's SOS was ranked lower. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck........you know the rest. pat
Bozo fits! Our dumbest - Peggy Elliot Coming in at a close second - Dominic Guzetta (also mean and petty) Most intelligent - Luis Proenza Second to him - Norman Auburn
Spin
Gee and Spanier held college football back to their elitist ideals for decades. They built and maintained a world of only a dozen or so programs eligible for the National Championship and the Heisman. These two asshats finally falling by the wayside is the first step to college football becoming a sport for everyone. Not just the "legacy" schools. Don't let the door hit you in the ass, Gord.
