Scheduling 2 for 1's?

How often are we losing recruits with the current staff? YSU has sucked recently, so obviously, those recruits werent that good.

Nothing good comes out of that game. If we win, it is because we should. Losing is a huge black eye. There is no reason to schedule that game.

In addition to the benefits already mentioned by LZip, let me try to put a number on the projected attendance of this game. Let's say we schedule YSU out several years as it is hard to get schedules worked out in 1 year and the dark Ianello years are further behind us. People are actually considering attending an Akron game again and we are going to open the season with YSU. Let's say we put 15,000 in the stands for this game as they have a strong following. At $20 a ticket average between reserved and general admission and say half buy something to eat and or drink for $10. That's $375,000 for the game without considering other forms of revenue. Not bad for an opener especially considering we'd draw 5,000 if we played Morgan State instead.

NO 2 fer 1s.

Home and homes with teams with recent records similar to ours for a start to give us a decent shot at those wins the Grate One wants.

Get on the phone yesterday to Idaho, New Mexico State, Southern Miss and Tulane.

This is what I am asking about. Would you rather sit at the Info alone for Idaho, New Mexico State, Southern Miss and Tulane or go ahead and do what needs to be done like NIU and Toledo (2 for 1s) and get Purdue, Kansas, Miami FL, NC State etc.

We had Syracuse and Indiana here in the past on 2 for 1's. Can't had Minnesota and Iowa State recently. Buffalo has had UConn, Cincy, Baylor. UMass has BC and Colorado. The directional Michigans are getting Michigan State to do it.

I think these are recognizable names regardless of their current status on the field and promoted well, would draw at the gate and generate interest a lot more than VMI, Tulane, NMSU etc. If Toledo etc can do it, why can't we?

I agree with this. What good could come out of playing Morgan State...or VMU...or James Madison? Other than a pointless win. Not only would more people be willing to attend (because they likely went to either YSU or Akron...or currently do go to either) And we could win a cool trophy unique to the showdown. We've got to understand our Niche. and YSU is a better fill in game than Morgan State...
