top 40 recruiting classes

Recommended Posts

A question for any of you who follow college soccer much more closely than the rest of us:

Isn't it at least a little bit alarming that Akron had a #23 ranked recruiting class?

By comparison, if Alabama or LSU or another top college football power had a #23 recruiting class, wouldn't their fans also have a concern about their future supremacy?

nah we'll be alright

edit: to clarify I guess

the football analogy isn't great because the size of a football team dictates there's gonna be a lot of turnover every year

in soccer the roster i think is limited to ~25, maybe 15 of which will actually see regular playing time. We've got enough of a core coming back that we should be solid.

combined with the fact that most of our blue-chip recruits (save Souto and that NYRB kid) weren't announced until after recruiting classes were ranked,

nah I aint even mad

The rest of us? Huh!?!?! Are you insinuating that there are other sports on this website?

Yes. This would be alarming if this ranking came from a reputable periodical. Sadly, College Soccer News is no longer that. They do not do their homework.

Using your example, imagine Street & Smiths neglecting to even mention a projected freshman starter (Victor Souto) in their evalutation of Alabama's or LSU's FDA recruiting class. Incoming Zips class will prove to be among the top ten.

College soccer news is not as credible as other sites...

I think they did a freshman all american team and they did not have Victor Souto on the team.

At the end of season, Victor Souto will be considered one of the best freshman in the country.

You guys sure are putting a lot of hype onto somebody that we really don't know much about.

I know a footballer when I see one. After seeing him play five times, I know Victor can ball! Because he enrolled in January, we actually know more about Victor Souto than we know about these other guys.

CSN should know Victor, and yet they do not.

Skip, there is no 'bama in collegiate soccer. Just as there is no Creighton in college football. Well, maybe they have a team...do they? Well, anyway if Alabama lost their coach, whoever he is, and they came back the next season with a #23 class, would that be so bad? I bet if Auburn were #24 or anywhere below 23, they'd be happy. All things considered, I think Akron fans are willing to let a less national-player-filled class go, and see how things happen on the pitch. I hope you'll be at the pitch, Skip!
