zipproud Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 http://www.timesonline.com/sports/high_sch...bd8a232ab9.html Chandler Kincade isn’t necessarily in a rush to leave Blackhawk. He’s just in a hurry to start his college career. That’s the bottom line for Kincade, a star quarterback who’ll graduate high school in December and enroll at Akron in time for spring practice. “Chandler was a sophomore when he and his family started talking about it,” said Blackhawk offensive coordinator Sam Nardone. “So we (coaches) sat down with Chandler and his mom and dad and discussed the pros and cons. We told him he’d miss some things in his senior year like senior trips and the prom and playing on the basketball team. But he was OK with that. Chandler enjoys being at Blackhawk. He just wants to get to the next level and be ready to play. That is the goal he set years ago.” When Kincade first thought about enrolling early in college, he had made a verbal commitment right after his sophomore season to Pitt when Todd Graham was coach. But shortly after Graham left for Arizona and Pitt hired Paul Chryst, Kincade de-committed. In June, Kincade opted for Akron, where Terry Bowden is set to begin his second season as coach. The son of former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, Terry runs a pass-happy spread offense that Kincade is eager to learn. “I couldn’t be happier with where I am right now,” said Kincade, who’s Pennsylvania’s second-rated pro-style high school quarterback, according to rivals.com. “People ask me if other schools might come in and ask me to change my mind. No. I am not going to change my mind. I love Akron. I love what the staff is doing. I feel Akron is the perfect fit for me.” **See link for complete story** Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 LaSala pointed out that just because an early enrollee takes part in spring drills doesn’t rule out the possibility of him redshirting as a freshman. Barring injury to Pohl, it seems the smart move would be to redshirt in 2014, get some reps in 2015, and hold the starting job for the next 3 seasons. Makes me wonder what will happen with Woodson. I guess we'll know a lot more once this season is complete. A billion different things can happen between now and 2014. Quote
