MRasor0200
I talked to Domenik Hixon today about being drafted. He said he had not spoken with Denver until just minutes before the Broncos drafted him. I'm wondering if this is typical or out of the ordinary, because it seemed weird to me.I posted the story on my blog in case you want to read it.blogs.ohio.com/rasor
liljc
Terrell Davis, who was drafted by Denver in round 6 in 1995, said on the NFL Network that he never talked to anyone on draft day. He saw his name on the ticker and that's how he knew he was drafted. Then on Wednesday of the following week he got a certified letter from the team telling him he was drafted with info for when and where to report for mini-camp. Kind of a funny story considering he was to become a 2000 yard rusher and a Super Bowl MVP.
Quickzips
Same thing happened with Jay Cutler (Denver's 11th pick). He said right after he was drafted that he hadn't heard from Denver at all, praticularly in the weeks leading up to the draft. Shannahan confirmed that they had not contacted Cutler for any interviews or anything of that sort. Risky proposition for Denver in that your not quite sure what your getting but if thats what they want to do.

zen
I think teams call the player in the first couple of rounds, when there is a lot more "show" to the draft. In the later rounds, the time limit for getting your picks in is much shorter, and thus, the team's banging their heads making sure that everyone agrees with who their best pick is at that particular point, and before that, on the phones working on trade possibilities. It's really hectic, and because it's so fast and so fluid, teams probably wont call a player ahead of time on the 2nd day.
Buckzip
Hey, that could be good news for me. I will start calling all the NFL teams to see if I got drafted but just don't know it yet...
