I am certain he meant to write "a turn" meaning turning with the ball. He can either write that Eric turned or that Eric made a turn. But he cannot safely write both, which is what he did.

I might add that a turn is a fundamental element of the sport and quite difficult to accomplish efficiently. Eric Stevenson is especially adept at turning, even for this level.
