Marla Ridenour: Zips tired of living on the edge

Recommended Posts

It seems to me like on the field, one guy who has stood out as taking control of the game more often than in the past is Eric Stevenson. I don't know what these guys are like personality-wise, but maybe he steps up? On the other hand, when the coach hands out three armbands and the lone fifth year senior who is also a starter is not given the captaincy, maybe he isn't really that type of guy. Someone needs to be, I would think Eric could be that guy if he's got the right attitude. He's been around forever, easy to forget he started school with Zarek, Chad, and those guys.

Totally agree on this one. Gallego is still a leader, no bout a doubt it. But Stevenson is matching leadership with on-the-field excellence. He is ferocious this year.

He has come such along way from skinny kid at Worthington Christian! In 2009, there was no way I would have thought he would be the player he is now. Hell, I think he might even play his way into the pros! Wow!

Seremba is speedy and attacks directly, but very often loses the ball. He is effectively used as is. I agree with Embick bringing him off the bench to give the game a different flavor and the player consistent but not overwhelming experience.

I agree on Stevenson, I think he's been the Zips most dangerous player this season. Seremba gives the ball up too much for me. The Zips are a possession team so it really hurts them when one guy gives up the ball so often. Seremba is a solid sub if the team needs a goal but not a regular starter.
