Tonight's Game:

Everyone has to wonder if there is any answer on our roster to our problem protecting the ball. Again, it's not a personnel issue, but a focus issue, in my opinion. And everyone from Quincy to the normal culprits contributed to the problem tonight. As an example, right in the middle of this same game, we witness the most remarkable play by Carmelo, where his spin move at mid-court makes a guy lose his jock, and he delivers a beautiful feed for a bucket. Just inexplicable how we have people who can play so badly and play so flawlessly within the same contest. Keith will double his amount of gray hair this season.

Let me answer that for you. No.

People need to start to realize that we are about half way into the season right now. This team is what it is. We are flawed in a lot of ways. Everyone knows that. Our ball-handling is shaky on a good day, we struggle to finish games from the foul line and our 3 point shooting comes and goes. Despite all of that we are undefeated in the conference and currently sitting at 11-5 overall. This isn't necessarily a bad team, but we are going to have to continue winning in spite of our flaws. There isn't a miracle cure that is going to come walking through the door tomorrow that will stop our ball-handlers from turning it over, improve our 3 point shooting and suddenly transform a bunch of sub-65% FT shooters into reliable closers. It isn't happening, and you guys who seem to think that it is need to stop it.

Accept it for what it is and enjoy what is still a very entertaining season.

Good win, I think Miami might be a .500 MAC team this year which is way better than last year. Harney had a very good game again, maybe he is really starting to figure things out now. Betancourt looked better (couple nice assist, a spin move for one of them, a three) maybe he's gaining some confidence. And as I saw KD walking across the floor I realized he is the "dean" of MAC coaches now.

I had to look it up (duh!) but found that Steve Hawkins started at WMU a year earlier -- or should we include KDs years at CMU?? :D

Dean of coaches in a conference refers to the coach who has been at his current school within that conference the longest. So, for example, Jim Christian had to start over after leaving Can't and then later landing in Athens.

Aha! That is precisely why I included the :D . (should we include KDs years at CMU?? :D )
