Zips just finished up a 7-5 win in Pittsburgh. Panthers had 7 errors. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful defensive game by Pitt. However, they did just beat the #1 team in the country, Virginia, this past weekend. A very nice win for the Zips.

Zips drop games 2 and 3 of the series to move to 14-14 overall and 6-3 in the MAC. Non conference games Tuesday and Wednesday against Pitt and Canisus and then Home against Ohio next weekend.

I prefer grass to turf but I am much more OK with turf in baseball as long as it is still outside. I just don't care for dome baseball. Its football where I really don't like turf but that bridge has already been crossed at the U of A.

Zips win the second game of the series 7-1. JT Brubaker took a no-hitter into the 7th inning for the Zips before letting up a run and giving way to the bullpen. Zips now 8-3 in the MAC.

Baseball sweeps Ohio with a 5-4 win today. 9-3 in the MAC, and 19-14 overall. Just one win away from matching last season's conference win total. Already four wins past last year's overall win total.

Generally, you need at least thirteen conference wins to get into the MAC tournament.

With 5 series (15 games) left in the MAC schedule, they are in great position to make the MAC tournament. However, they play some of the tougher teams in the conference the rest of the way.

Today's home game against Marshall was cancelled for pretty obvious reasons. Zips play Western Michigan tomorrow in a game that will not count as a conference game. The game will be played in Avon, Ohio with WMU being the home team. WMU hasn't played a true home game yet, all their home games have been moved to alternate locations as they haven't gotten their home field into playable condition following a tough winter.

The Zips will then host Bowling Green in a conference series this weekend at Lee Jackson Field. Akron is currently tied with Can't State for 1st in the MAC East with a 9-3 record.

If they can push the streak to 9 straight wins this weekend then I'll feel pretty good about them finally getting back to the MAC tourney. I know a lot can happen still but you have to think they'd be able to stratch out a win here and there the rest of the way and still be playing in Avon if they sweep BG this weekend.

Zips got swept this weekend by Bowling Green (the defending MAC champs). Akron is now 20-17 overall and 9-6 in the MAC. They host Youngstown State and Wright State on Tuesday and Wednesday at Canal Park.

Nice crowd yesterday, I overheard a couple guys who never considered going to a ballgame until the SpringFest.

I see the advantages of being on-campus, and really think even a small upgrade would help get people out. Get rid of the stands that look like they salvaged them from South High School when it closed, put in some decent bleachers behind the plate and where the current ones are. Maybe some chair-backs in the top row of the stands behind the plate. Leave the hill along the 3rd base line for folding chairs and picnic blankets.

Adding the concession stand and real restrooms with the new soccer stadium really helps. It sure beats the old port-a-jon on a hot day.

It wouldn't be D1 standards, but it would be nice. it's just tough to sit there getting splinters in your bottom, looking at what the U has done for the softball program. :nutkick:

Zips got swept this weekend in Buffalo by the Bulls. Akron is now 21-21 overall, 9-9 in the MAC. They are now in 7th place in the MAC (top 8 qualify for the MAC tournament)

Coach Rembielak not with the team. Under investigation by UA Police Department. Currently on administrative paid leave.

I saw this yesterday, but wasn't sure if it was true yet. Now that its confirmed, I wonder if its something he could lose his job over. I hope not, he's doing a good job turning the program around.

Zips lost games 2 and 3 in the series and are now 23-23 overall and 10-11 in the MAC. They are tied for 7th, one game ahead of 9th with 6 conference games left. The top eight make the MAC tournament. They play 9th place NIU in a big road series starting on Friday.

Akron baseball won 1 of 3 against NIU this weekend. They currently sit in a tie with NIU for 7th/8th (NIU holds the tiebreaker thanks to the series win) and are one game ahead of Toledo and Western Michigan who are tied for 9th/10th. The top 8 teams make the MAC tourney. The Zips play Can't State Thursday through Saturday to close out the season. They will need to win at least 1, but likely 2, of the three games to qualify.
