fknbuflobo
Here is the 4-2-3-1 formation and lineup successfully employed versus both UCF and Harford. Several substitutes saw significant action.I am not sure what was more surprising, that Souders was moved from CB to LB, or that he was so serviceable at LB. I like it when the coaches are smarter than me. At CB, 20Ruhaak is solid and 14Cregan continues to impress.15Garcia is here to stay at AMF. His stature and non-stop short passing reminds me of Ampaipitakwong. He does not practice hard, so I dismissed him as a starter, judging from the practices I have witnessed. He has proven to be a real gamer.2W-2L-1D Onward and upward!
bobbyake
I don't think Sepe is forward material, at least not the attacking forward spot. He doesn't push the line and seems lazy on the attack. I like the other forward, #17 Anthony Macchione, a lot better as he was always on the line and the Zips were able to push the ball up to him in space behind the defense. He's also taller giving an advantage for set pieces. The offense was a lot more explosive with Anthony Macchione.
Ando
thought nick schultz (sp?) made a lot of positive & powerful, if a little inelegant, contributions late on. encouraging to see a little more asymmetry than past setups
bobbyake
#16 has looked lost at times. He came in late against UCF and had a horrible shot on the outside of the side netting while we had plenty of guys in the box. His angle was horrible for that shot. He also had a few turnovers yesterday. I understand he's a freshman and I hope they're just rookie mistakes.
Zip_ME87
I also think #9 Holthusen has potential up front. Nice to have viable options.
robh91
I also think #9 Holthusen has potential up front. Nice to have viable options.Whenever Holthusen is subbed in, he looks the most likely to create something. Would like to see him start, I also haven't been impressed with Sepe. He played RB in qualifying for that tournament too. Remember him serving a pass to McInerny that scored a goal. He's not DeAndre Yedlin (!), but he's got big-time skill. Good endurance.I see him practicing his left long ball all the time in warm-ups. He understands what is required from the position and is willing to do it.There is no tougher player in NCAA than 2Souders. Tenacious. Very dependable. Excellent tackler of the ball. Technical without flash. Love Andrew Souders! He may be our answer at LB for this season and the next.
Jalapeño Zippy
Very impressed by the showing this past Sunday. The team played aggressively and was quick which was something that was lacking the last time I was able to attend. I never saw a player take more than 1-3 touches unless, of course, they were driving on the attack in a 1v1 situation. Even then, the most I counted was 5-6.
