Dave in Green
Fun read and a good point. There are millions and millions of graphs measuring millions and millions of different things. Random chance will cause many unrelated different things to produce similar graphs. Showing correlation is as easy as matching graphs, for which there's probably an app. Proving causation can require a lot of work.
zen
Didn't click. Figured it was TLDR.But you see this ALL THE FREAKIN TIME when study results are published, particularly online.Usually the so-called journalist is smart enough to imply causation without directly declaring it, but in my opinion, it's worse to be deceptive than to be stupid
Balsy
Completely agree Zen. This is why critical thinking skills are so important.
Dave in Green
Didn't click. Figured it was TLDR. ...Just the opposite of a long read. Lots and lots of graph pairs with similar curves for totally unrelated subjects. Great light entertainment.
