Buckzip
Capi. 2 in a row. 3rd and 27 and you're an idiot. Then another one after that. Nice coverage by the secondary too.
Zipgrad01
Like I said, just like Ianello's swan song. Enjoy getting stomped by Umass and the hippies.
K92
Does the coaching staff have any effect whatsoever on this team? This is playground football.
K92
Some people saw what was going on after the Ohio game. My guess is a lot more might see what is going on now. Some will continue to live life in delusion.
Dave in Green
I'd like to revise my prediction that the Zips would win 2 of their last 3 games and finish 6-6. My prediction was based on a Zips team that apparently no longer exists.

dre22era
This season had so much promise but after that turnover that decided the Ohio Game its been all bad ever since.Beyond painful to watch. Honestly they don't deserve to wear the Gold Chrome Helmets right now.
Big Zip
I'm on the west coast this week and just got to the hotel about 30 minutes ago. I don't think I realized a team could quit his bad. Talk about having no pride in yourself, your school, your coach etc. These guys have mailed it in against a team that has lost 4 straight. Don't worry though someone on this board recently assured us they'd be 10-2 and Bowden would be seen as the best Div. 1 coach in Akron history. skip-zip
When I said earlier that this team is unpredictable, I just realized that it couldn't be more true.A complete collapse against a bad team was not even remotely on my mind for this one. K92
Just in case anyone still cares at all, the terrible 2011 team only gave up 51 to Buffalo.
zippy_ua_00
And buffalo was a better team then
K92
Yeah. Not quite sure where we go from here. Gotta wonder if the wagons can be circled or not. I would like to think that the team would summon up enough pride to win the last two games to avoid the losing season but I am very doubtful. Such a terrible finish to a promising season. Balsy
Don't worry though someone on this board recently assured us they'd be 10-2 and Bowden would be seen as the best Div. 1 coach in Akron history. Then stop watching the Zips if you have such little faith in Bowden. Again I ask you, who would you have brought here (or would bring here now) that would do any better/different than Bowden has given the absolutely terrible situation he started with. (cue the cricket noise)....I will never be sold on PohlAny stock you have remaining in Pohl needs to be sold immediately. He isn't the vocal leader the Zips need on an offense.
Balsy
The injury at QB in the miami game really showed how vulnerable this team is. The team lacks viable leadership on the offensive side of the ball. Bowden and co have worked on changing the culture...but we just don't have enough leaders right now. We need to find a handful of guys on offense to be our leaders, we have zero right now. That is the biggest problem I see with this team.I don't care how good your defense is, or how good your leadership is on defense. You cannot go 0-9 with zero first downs on offense, after grabbing two takeaways. Buffalo's leaders rallied Buffalo...the Zips didn't have the leaders on offense to do it. K92
Then stop watching the Zips if you have such little faith in Bowden. Again I ask you, who would you have brought here (or would bring here now) that would do any better/different than Bowden has given the absolutely terrible situation he started with. (cue the cricket noise)To just name one simply & obviously: P.J. Fleck. He is a tool but he has Western winning today not tomorrow. The free pass that you give Bowden is just crazy delusional. Perhaps, if there was any semblance of a legitimate sports media presence in NE Ohio, some appropriate questions could be asked of Bowden, giving him the opportunity to acquit himself from the train wreck that is the 2014 Zips. Instead we will get more of the same old bullshit Q&A which is all we deserve as fans because our fan base is so pathetic. The only heat that any Akron coach will ever feel comes from this board. I am tired of being made to feel like I am a fair weather fan by pointing out reality. You can continue to blame everyone but Bowden. You can continue to pretend the defense is good. You can do whatever you need to do to rationalize in your mind the implosion of this season. But here's the bottom line. The buck stops with Terry. If he is not willing to make some changes on his staff, he's got to own the wheels coming off. Mr. Lee Adams wanted to talk about Terry's quote in the BJ about putting players in bad positions. You blew him off saying there was nothing there to talk about, just some coachspeak. Well, I can tell you today I hope it was a legitimate hint dropped that Terry at least sees some of the problems and is going to shake things up. Hopefully today not tomorrow.

Jrship35
When Bowden talks about recruiting "high character" kids, it is not only off the field but on the field ....... Two things you can do when you get punched in the mouth ........ Fight or quit !!I believe we saw the character of the team at this point ...... It's unfortunate, but let's hope that the young class of 14 and the upcoming class of 15 recruits have a hell of a lot more fight in them !!It is a cliche but true ....... You have to know how to win. Not sure what type of team this is at practice, film study, weight room ....... But changing "the culture", is difficult.Transfers are definitely needed for another year or two, but let's face it, there is a reason that these kids are being dismissed from other schools. I might recommend staying at the juco level for transfers. ....... Not saying they are all bad kids (don't know them)..... But again, there is a reason they were dismissed ...... Just sayin
Jrship35
Biggest let down for me was the quit in the defense .... Getting pushed around by guys 60 pounds heavier makes a long night sure ..... But the LB's were not fitting in gaps, d-line and LB's were filling the same gaps ...... Not much line stunting at all (key IMO against guys averaging that much more) ........ Just simply out of position all night My son called it ....... The defense has lost confidence that the next guy is gonna do his job .... So everyone is playing chase defense.
GP1
Buffalo outscored both Toledo and Northern combined last night. Three teams in the MAC had something to play for last night. Two played hard. One didn't. Toledo fought and lost. No shame in that. We didn't fight. They should be ashamed today.

UA1987
Offensive line - we've seen the last two weeks what good ones can do - to us. Maybe we have some nagging injuries not reported - I don't know, but the OL must be improved. I don't like our tackles and Brumbaugh at LG seems to be playing weak (best we've got so keep him in the lineup or play Casimos). Insert McNamara at RG and play Boyett and Brown at tackles. I saw Williams get beat what seemed like every other play last night. The OL is where our loss came from - defense became demoralized and got run over by their line - 5 yard push on many plays.
