ZippyRulz Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 3 college Natties with a couple of undefeated seasons, not much left to prove...does he have NFL aspirations? Quote
skip-zip Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 I'm an Akron fan, so I couldn't care less about him. But, at least in the NFL it's not against the rules to "just happen to run into" potential recruits while you are at THEIR high school football games, and "inadvertently pocket dial" recruits during a non-contact period. ZachTheZip Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Who knows? Why does it matter on an AKRON message board? Quote
ZippyRulz Posted January 13, 2015 Author Report Posted January 13, 2015 I would just rather not see him win 3 more there and would like to see them have to find a replacement.Just wondering if he's feeling the challenge of taking on Belichick and the masterminds at the highest level. If we're wanting to attract more Joe Akron's to the Zips then it's highly relevant to this board whether they go on a 10-year dynasty run or fall back out of the playoff picture. Dr Z Posted January 13, 2015 Report Posted January 13, 2015 Why would he leave when he has better players than 80 percent of his competition? If he moved to the NFL, he would more than likely be at a disadvantage. See Nick Saban.Urban makes five million a year in Cowtown. Rex Ryan just signed for five and a half million a year in the NFL. If the Browns make the playoffs, OSU becomes largely irrelevant in Cleveland. The reason OSU is so popular is because they give two sadsack NFL fanbases an alternative. If those NFl franchises could do more, that wouldn't be the case. Quote

If those NFl franchises could do more, that wouldn't be the case.I once learned that, outside of Columbus, the Cleveland area has the highest number of blOSU alums of any city in the state. Cincinnati is quite different. Even the OSU folks themselves admit that they have a hard time gaining support in that area. As I've pointed out before, Cincinnati's success in basketball and football surely has a lot to do with it. But, I also think that Dayton and Xavier basketball, and the somewhat-close Kentucky and Louisville affects that too. Quote

Dr Z Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 Sounds like he's confirming he will go to the NFL, just not right at the moment. He is playing the game by positioning himself for a raise in Cowtown. This lets Columbus know he has options and he is of value elsewhere. Why would he leave when he has better players than 80 percent of his competition? Both are ignorant enough to do anything unsound for a quick fix. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Well, as of today it looks like we have a new favorite Twitter post from an Urban Meyer recruit at OSWho."I'm hurt as hell I ain't gone lie" Quote
