It's tough to pay good attention to practice while also keeping track of a very active 5-year old boy...but here's what I take out of today's practice:The back up QB's both looked good. I would want to open the season with them at Penn State in 2006, but we'll be fine vs. Ohio State in 2007. All our QB's are solid.Harvey is a player. As good as advertised. He will play plenty this season.During drills, the WR's other than Jabari seemed to drop too many balls. They all have good size, speed, etc. They have good attitudes and work hard, but it seems playing time for the #4-#5 slots remains up for grabs. Jabari, Long and Harvey seem to be "locks." Fuqua is my favorite for the next slot. The players that demonstrate they have the most reliable hands over the next 2 weeks will win. "Upside" is a pretty overused word, but there's a lot of it at WR. Lot's of young, talented kids.Nate Robinson had the Stuff of the Day. In a red zone drill, Kennedy got absolutely crushed as he tried to break the goal line. Robinson looks to be in relatively good shape and working hard. The entire D-line looked better than it ever has. Kennedy looked great. Mark my words - He will score a lot of TD's this season. I put the over/under at 12 TD's. He's a very tough, strong, fast runner and has a nose for the endzone. Hold your breath for Alex Allen. He ripped off a sweet 20 yard run in the red zone drill. Broke several tackles. On the next play he plowed into the line and screamed. He was down for 20 minutes, then was carted off the field. He was grimmacing and pounding the cart as it exited the field. It didn't look good at all. Chevin Pace is back at full speed. In general, the practiced looked VERY well run. Highly organized. Every drill had a purpose. The players all paid attention. You can see why our team is a year ahead of schedule. I left the practice very impressed. We have size, speed and seeming excellent discipline. I see a great season on the horizon. Penn State will get a game on September 2nd.

Capn',How did I not see you I was there also. I saw less than you did cause of my over actvie 4 year old. I was just there for drills and saw no game action. The only down side was a GA came over and asked me to leave. He said coach wants the practice to be closed. He was very nice and we were on our way out so I did not put up a fight. I still feel if they want to closed practice then they need to put a trap up along the fence. Other wise sorry but it is a free world and I can stand where I want to........

geeze, if you're talking the outdoor practice field i would have just walked around and went into shrank, only to watch from the little plaza thing up there. you'd get a great view and i don't think they can really do much about that...even if they did put tarps up along the fence

I was at practice too and that injury did not look good for Allen. I am pretty impressed by Tuzze - he looks like a little ape out there knocking people around.Poindexter and Cruz are talented TE but no one is better than KAZ - he is a manimal.Robinson needs to get in shape - Reid is in mid-season form - Gonzalex is slurping along.Grant continues to be the class of the defense.Jackson should move to WR or DB, Chris is the better backup QB.I like the intensity of the coaches - a keeper group. The new coach Dawson is funny to listen too - a real card. All for now.

What are you smoking and will you please pass it to me if you think jacquamain looks better than jackson. Carlton will be the clear number 2 on this years team.O and if you were there you would know that reid is not even practicing due to a knee injury so how is he in mid season form.

I dunno Beanie... I can't say I've been to the practices but I was at the Spring Game and Jackson was flat-out outplayed by Jacquamain. Jackson just didn't seem to have the command of the offense or the passing skills needed to run it, but that's just my opinion. If I had to throw one of the two in a game situation I would definitely feel more comfortable with Jacquamain. I don't think Jackson will be moved positions even if he doesn't win the #2 job. I heard he clocked a 4.8 40 yard dash this spring or summer, which i think is too slow to play reciever or safety. So I don't see him as anything but a QB.

Yea I should probably try to get out there and see how they look. I guess you're right alot does happen over summer. Jackson must've really put in some hard work this summer, because this spring I just didn't see "it". But I'll go check it out to see first hand what you're talking about. Good to hear something about Hakes I was wondering how he was doing.
