Spin Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 It only took 16 innings, but the second seeded Golden Flushes finally got on the scoreboard. It wasn't enough as Bowling Green eliminated them from the tournament 6-3 in the "losers bracket". 1 Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 CMU gets eliminated. That's the #1 and #2 seeds gone before anybody else. Crazy. Quote
Spin Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 Another back-and-forth game, but this time the Zips lose 9-6 to David Letterman U. Now we play Toledo in the loser's bracket for a chance to play Ball St. again Saturday. Quote
Spin Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 Tied in the bottom of the 9th, the Zips Rembielak scorea on a wild throw by the Toledo pitcher to send the Rockets home. The 1, 2, and 4 seeds are now gone.I may have to take vacation next year and go watch this tournament!!! Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 Pretty cool that the coach's son scored the winning run on his dad's 600th win. 1 Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 The Zips were down 8-1 to Ball State in the bottom of the 9th, but score 8 runs to win the game! Zips will play Ball State again tonight at 8:00 PM. Winner goes to the MAC championship game. 1 Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 Here's the link to watch: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2583187/Zips up 2-0 in the top of the 3rd.Whoever wins would have to beat Ohio twice tomorrow to win the championship. Quote
Spin Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 Ohio Polytech 8 Ball St 5 in the bottom of the 7th. The game is on ESPN3 for anyone who wants to join the party. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted May 24, 2015 Report Posted May 24, 2015 For being seeded 8th out of 8 teams, I'd say the team exceeded expectations. Quote
GJGood Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 When it comes to Akron baseball no lead in the 9th inning is safe, whether it be the Zips with the lead or their opponent. What a crazy two games. 8 runs in the bottom of 9 to win game one followed by giving up 4 or 5 in the bottom of nine in game two to lose in walk-off fashion. I've never seen, or even heard of, any team having a day quite as dramatic as that. Quote

ZippyRulz Posted July 18, 2015 Report Posted July 18, 2015 I just discovered Mike Birkbeck's kid went to GlenOak and is a pitcher for the Flashes. Of course, Mike has been a long time coach there. Quote
