What an interesting tradition. What most people don't know is that it starts with the players being loaded on busses and driven up a road that goes up to the top edge of that side of the stadium, through a tunnel of fans lining the street the entire way. Come to think of it, we could have done something like this at the Rubber Bowl, since the top side in the one end zone was at street level.
