Valpo Zip
I'm affraid that this is not an innocent question to be asked just one hour after Charlie's worst 2 series. But anyways, Luke got a stronger arm but Charlie is a local kid and he plays for the local team... I mean, come on.
ZachTheZip
Frye has IMO the worst Offensive coordinator in all of football, not to mention a line that can't stop a pee-wee team. Getsy would look just as bad in Frye's spot right now. It's not a fair question at all.
sgm405
I actually forgot the Browns were even on tonight...so the question wasn't in a response to Charlie's performance. With that said...the O-line does suck and Carthon is pretty horrible...but doesn't Charlie have to take some blame as well?
UADavid
The whole team has to execute and they didn't come close. Looked like Charlie might have hurt his hand on a pass play where the whole d-line was in the backfield. Of course a no back set! I think he hit a helmet releasing the ball. They must not like him. zen
I have watched 3 of the 4 preseason games and I have come to one conclusion:Frye is intentionally not playing well. Yeah, I know. Bull! But i really think it's true, and I think the browns coaching staff wanted it this way. They told him, "the job is yours, get all your good reps in practice, because we aren't going to call any plays that show our hand while you are in".I know this defies the golden principle that preseason is for game preparation, but I think they are rationalizing it. I think that several series at game speed are good enough of "a look" for him to remind him of full speed gametime play, but they don't want to call real "strategy plays" that will show season opponent defensive coordinators how to prepare.I have reserved all judgement until game one against new orleans.I know the Browns are not a super bowl team, and Carthon normally doesn't have my favorite style of play calling, but I honestly think that this play calling this preseason while Frye is in and his performance is far less than competative by design. GP1
I once told you guys that regardless of what your wives and girlfriends tell you, size does matter. When looking at NFL prospects, it is especially true. I think Luke is great for the program and I would even go as far as to say he is the second best QB in Zips history behind Mike Johnson, but I think a lot of NFL teams may take a pass on him because of his size. The question isn't who is better, it is will he make it?
Dr Z
Preseason is preseason. Save your critism of Frye for the regular season. The line is not very good and the Bears defense may be one of the best in the league.Excuses? yes.To address the question of who will be the better pro Frye or Getsy, who will Getsy be playing for as a pro? Then I can answer that. And what decides a "better pro," biggest contract, wins, yardage, super bowl rings...?With not knowing any of your answers, I'll take the odds and say Frye. He is the starting QB of an NFL team. There are only 32 of those in the world, and Charlie is one of those (for now). Getsy is a LONG way from that. GP1
Frye is going to be one of a long line of QBs that Chicago defense makes look bad this season............
UADavid
I think Luke is great for the program and I would even go as far as to say he is the second best QB in Zips history behind Mike JohnsonAs of today the accomplishments of Charlie Frye during his years at UA easily make him the best QB in the history of the Zips. That in no way diminishes the accomplishments of Luke Getsy last year. We'll see what kind of year he and the team have and I may alter my opinion of the best QB. Mike Johnson??? Not even close. And I thought he was a very good QB. Come on now, what is your beef with Charlie. This is at least the second shot you've taken at him on this board. Z-P
Note to boyz............see other post.Something is wrong. I don't like what I'm seeing, and if you spant any of your hard earned money on a #9 Browns jersey, I hate to tell you this, but it was probably flushed down the toilet..............and that's coming from a guy who likes Superman!Long, long ago I said I hated to see him get drafted into the Browns system. I stll hold to that opinion.

They won't even let him check plays at the line. Another poster thinks carthon is a changed man. I hope that's true. Has anyone heard anything about Charlie's throwing hand? I think he hit a helmet again.

Zips Win! Was too busy watching Miami games! In my tenure, Frye was hands down the best, Mike Johnson was second and Butchie was third......BTW, Luke is not great in any sense of the word.....I witnessed the Ball State, Army and BG games.....But here is hoping that he breaks every record this year, especially wins in a season! fear the brown roo
i love charlie but hate the browns system. i'm hoping they are hiding everything in their playbook for the regular season but something tells me this is about as good as it gets. i'm happy we can see charlie every week since he is playing for the browns but i hate that we're going to see him get beat up. losing bentley is crushing and keeping carthon is painful........ getsy has potential but is not better than charlie or mike johnson yet. one up and down year in 2005 doesn't make his 2006 season automatic. i'm thinking he's going to have an awesome 2006, then we can see where he ranks with frye and johnson. i'm hoping he turns out to be the best ever. Buckzip
Mo Carthon sucks as an OC. Frye will never show anything under him.
gozips19
reguardless of what you think of mo he can't block and that's the problem... it looks like they are playing touch football out there. i just hope charlie doesn't pick up any bad habits during this period
