UAZipster0305
Great win on the road! Hopefully the defensive changes shore things up for the rest of the season. We wont get far in the post-season giving up 2-3 goals per game.Hats off to the UCSB community for 7400 fans showing up too!Let's get PSU on Wednesday! Zip_ME87
Does anyone know if Robby Dambrot even traveled. He took himself out of the WFU game with what appeared to be the flu. Whatever happened and why, I'm glad the coaches tried out some changes. I know our team is deep with talent and very happy to see it put to use. Maybe the change of scenery was a help tooAs far as Soares, I liked his play at Georgetown then he got the concussion. Glad to here he looked good last night. Good player. Great win. Hope our fans realize and show up for Penn St.
Zip_ME87
Hey, Zips fans! I'm an Akron-area native (Mogadore) who's been living in Santa Barbara for the past 30 years, and a casual soccer fan. I attended last night's game (wearing my 2010 College Cup Zips T-shirt!), and found the 20 or so other Akron fans clustered in the stands (outnumbered overall by about 350 to 1). I ended up sitting next to Jake Fenlason's mom & dad, who were up from San DiegoI don't have the expertise to analyze the game. At first it seemed like the Gauchos were in control, and the ball spent most of time in the Zips end, but as the game wore on the Zips seemed to take charge. Both Zip goals were off opportunistic steals. Here's a summary from Gaucho fan buc on their board:Thanks @MarkS. Glad you were able to get there. I know how much our guys appreciate anyone who comes out to support them, especially so far away.I appreciate the Gauchos fans from 2010, but I was put off a little in 2011 when I mentioned it would be nice to see them return our visit then by the Gauchos coming to Akron in 2012. Their fans gave me the usual, oh we can't go to Akron, Ohio, yada yada, yada. Feels great to beat them! The trip also appears to have been good for our guys. I hope they can carry that into the Penn State match on Wednesday at home.
SBZipfan
Well I certainly think the Gauchos should play in Akron!I have no idea what sort of things go into scheduling out-of-conference games, but a home-&-home series certainly seems like the fairest option. Especially when it's early in the season so that weather is not a factor.
