skip-zip
The intentional grounding just made it a Sack, and a loss of down, and it was 4th down anyway. If the flag had not been thrown, the ball would have gone back to the line of scrimmage, which was 6 yards ahead of that point, but they still would have had to punt. It might be reasonable to think that the kick out of bounds was only a 10 yard difference, as opposed to a touchback. But gosh, just handing a team great field position by your own mistake, at that point in the game, is just a huge blunder. A quick 3-and-out by OU, with a sack included, should have never resulted in Akron getting the ball all the way back at the 27 yard line to start that last drive. RowdyZip
The only petulant sociopaths in or around this board are the ones who feel so inclined to inject their political beliefs, ignorant or not, into a discussion regarding the results of a football game.

zen
dismal meloncholyI don't go to the games any more.I don't check the schedule any more.I don't check the scores any more.I didn't even know we had won any games because I wasn't coming on zno for quite some time. The isn't bygone year's sense of discust or even the beaten-down feeling of wanting to give up hope. This is pure apathy. I lost all inclination to care.Never imagined it would be here.... where I can go weeks & weekends without a passing notion to the affairs of zips footballWhen's basketball start? GJGood
Lee Owens would have struggled against this year's MAC. He always banked on the K.e.n.t., Buffalo and EMU games to get him around .500.I still like our chances. EMU is ok, but they're still EMU. Miami, K.e.n.t., UMass, Buffalo...those should all be wins for the Zips. Playing 4, 2014 bowl teams to begin the season is a tough stretch for a team in Akron's situation. I want to see how we fare against teams of like, or lesser talent. Any pass happy team on the schedule still scares me. I feel much more confident, though, when the Zips play a run-first type of team as I feel that plays into our wheelhouse on defense. I believe that Akron is better overall than teams like UMass and Buffalo but the style they play and the experienced QBs they have still worry me. I see those games as dangerous. If you take a look at any of the opposition blogs, Bull and Minutemen followers/bloggers are all expecting a win over the Zips just as some of us are expecting wins over them. Them and Toledo are in the top 5 teams with most offensive plays per game average thus far Talk about needing some kinda ball control offense !! GJGood
Yes, BG scares me but I am hoping EMU's style of play bodes well for the Zips. The only team I'd feel very confident about playing right now is Miami but even they are capable of a surprise here and there.
