Captain Kangaroo Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 It would be a scholarship "shell game." I'm sure there's some way both could be Zips, assuming that's what they both want. Quote
Zip Watcher Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I take the one who poses less of an off the court risk. The emphasis on this team shouldn't be on a short term rented scorer who can't understand and play team ball. We tried that .. didn't work. This team should be all about JWood, Peterson, Romeo & friennds. Oh yeah .. and the Assassain, BHIP. From the llittle that I know, I'd take a flyer on Dials before Schifino. If you read about the mess that is the Morgantown mens hoops team, it seems to me it would take an awful lot to get booted from that squad. Might be the wrong first step for KD as he tries to right the ship academically while beginning the dominance on the court. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 W. Virginia Suspends Schifino Indefinitely Associated Press MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia leading scorer Drew Schifino was suspended indefinitely Friday for violating unspecified team rules. "I haven't talked to him since he walked out of here yesterday ... that's all I can say about it right now. The players aren't going to comment on it and I ask that you don't pry and ask for comments on it," coach John Beilein said Friday. Schifino, a junior from Pittsburgh, is averaging 17.6 points and 5.1 rebounds through 11 games. Schifino's playing time had decreased significantly during the season. He played less than 35 minutes in just one of West Virginia's first six games. His 48-game streak of scoring in double-figures, the nation's longest and a school record, was snapped Wednesday in West Virginia's 63-52 loss to Notre Dame. Schifino played just 27 minutes Wednesday and was on the bench for the final minutes. The Mountaineers (7-4, 0-1) are scheduled to play Georgetown on Saturday Quote
dipset2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 Can't go by what you hear from the papers of course everybody will believe the coach. Dials to me sucks I saw schifino play he would torture the mac if he came here. Akron needs a player like that tarver was good, but schifino scored points on nba players in the big east he avg 21 points so he must be the real deal, and he shot 47% at 6'3. Quote
rvr Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Dials to you sucks? How so? Has anyone seen him play, or are you going by his stats (like 3 time All State, etc)? Quote
RatFink Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 DIPWEED says, "to him, Dials sucks." Suckeye fans are/were screaming to quickly hire Coach Knight partly because Coach Knight highly praised young mister Dials. Most Suckeye fans were wont to let Nick Dials leave their program. Its not every freshman "walk on" who can start as a true freshman on a Big Ten team. Nick Dials did. Nine times, even for three games after breaking his wrist. Now Coach Dambrot and Coach Knight are not ranked among the world's stupidest people. Both of them rate Nick Dials as a player. Do the math. Schifino for one year on two years worth of scholarship money or Dials for three years on four years worth of scholarship money. Are we talking brain surgeon here? Besides, the Zips may still pick up Schifino. Do the deal, Charley. Quote
