tbell ncsu Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 there's no video shown from that angle. most of them are from above and at a distance. you can't really tell if that elbow had touched or not.some of y'all are unbelievable. that photo was taken by a person of the media, and it certainly wasn't doctored. refs miss the call all the time. i mean, it still doesn't change anything. y'all still won. Buckzip Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Amazing how you seem to forget the horrible call on the series before that. Quote
GP1 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 we don't need a timeout to challenge. the booth should've challenged that, especially with that line judge standing right there. like i said though, we deserved to lose.btw, having the elbow down means that the player is down, and the play is dead. It smells like sour grapes in here. Are we sure Sloopy isn't posting again? Anyhow........Look cracker, learn the rules. A player is not down until something from the hips or lower touch the ground. Every piece of video I saw showed DK clearly crossing the line before his lower body touches. There was not a single person on the post game analysis on 680 AM here locally who questioned whether or not he was over the line. In fact, this is the only State fan who questions the call. When asked whether he crossed the line or not, one of the State radio guys said he was clearly across. One split second in a photo does not tell the whole story. The video was on TV several time last night and today here and he was clearly across the line. In fact, the entire ball is across the line before his lower body hits.Akron is a better team than State, period. In fact, State is a really bad team. No more excuses please from the sour grapes growing in Raleigh. Quote
Buckzip Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Actually over ont he NCSU board a few of them are whining that they got screwed. Quote
bobbyake Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 We dominated them the whole game. Quote
JP Morgan Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 wow, some of y'all are unbelievable. that photo was taken by a person of the media, and it certainly wasn't doctored. refs miss the call all the time. i mean, it still doesn't change anything. y'all still won.THen why did you bring it up? GoZips Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Dang. I just woke up a bit ago after driving ten hours to get back from Raleigh. Oh, just to prove I was in Raleigh two points; GP1 is correct that 680 AM is NCST's flagship station as we listened to the after game analysis and call-in show until it ended at7 PM and I had the nice 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix rental car ($20.49/day with unlimitedmileage) well into Virginia. Second, fueled up at Fuel City on I-40 ($2.37/gal) on the return trip.Points made in the NC area newspapers strongly indicated that Kennedy scored. So, quit whining. They also reported that the officials were an all ACC crew. The host on the call-in show made mention that he had reports that the review of the play where theNCST QB may have been past the line of scrimmage on a broken pass play saying that"NC State got some 'help' from the officials".The alleged photo is probably real. It simply is a freeze frame snap of a series ofpictures taken in very short intervals. Nowhere in the picture does Kennedy appear tobe touching the ground. He is moving through the air on the lunge for the goal line.It certainly appears that unless stopped (and his whole upper body end up in the endzone) he was going to make it easily into the end zone before making ground contact.Seeing the stunned look on thousands of fans dressed in a horrible, horrible color waspriceless. Not many were pissy. Most were congratulatory and even complimentary. It was darn hot. I picked up a sunburn in that horrible, horrible color. One last thing ... NCST has the nicest stadium for a college team I have ever been in. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Here's another look at the goaline.... Quote
Buckzip Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 I notice you don't mention the horrible call where it was obvious the QB was over the line when he threw it. Oh wait, that went in your favor, so it doesn't count. Quote
tbell ncsu Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 did it DIRECTLY and IMMEDIATELY decide the outcome of the game? nope. Quote
Big Zips Fan (220lb) Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 FYI,according to the NCAA rules:A live ball becomes a dead ball (runner is down) when any part of the runner's body, except his hand or foot, touches the ground.http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2006/200...tball_rules.pdfIt is on page 79.No video replay would have overruled the play on the field. There was no distinguishing exactly when anything touched the ground. This was definitely a great game for the Zips. I was so happy listening to the radio broadcast that I almost cried when the announcers were screaming out the win.I had a lot of respect for the way Lee Owens built a respectable MAC team from a mess. Now, I wonder how long Brookhart can be persuaded to stay at Akron. I think Akron's only chance to keep him around a while are sold out games at the Rubber Bowl and a big fat paycheck. I don't think that the money itself can keep him. Quote
you am i Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 for those who could not see the game (such as me), you can check out you tube under "nc state vs. akron ending" for replays of the getsy run and the kennedy run. given these replays, i don't think there is any way the replay officials would have or should have overruled the calls on the field. that's not to say that either call was necessarily correct, just that the video does not show either call to be definitively wrong. GP1 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Here's another look at the goaline.... What would a game be without the post game cry by the losers. Quote
GP1 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 One other thing, how does this guy from State (probably a Seahawks fan too) know that the ball is not across the line or maybe was across the line and came back as DK protects himself from the fall? Touchdown Akron!!!!!!! Quote
