Buckzip
To show that the hate isn't 2 sided in the least, go to Bucknuts. They have a thread cheering on the Zips, and they are excited over the win.I have seen this before too. All of the OSU sites are pumped for Akron doing well.

MRasor0200
The first call I received after the game was from a Buckeyes fan with congratulations.Rooting against the Buckeyes isn't about being hateful, it's about being realistic. The college football market in NE Ohio is only so big. When Ohio State is No. 1 in the nation, Akron will continue to be the red-headed stepchild, even on its own campus.Rasor on the Zips
Balki Bartokomous
Same here. The first call I got was from a buddy who goes to OSU. He's interning out Seattle. He said that there was a bunch of people rooting for Akron to win at the bar he was at.
Zip_ME87
I love the Buckeyes. I hate Northeast Ohio media for not giving Akron and the rest of the MAC the coverage we deserve.Go BUCKS! Send Bevis, I mean Beavo, back to the barn!

LosAngelesZipFan
There is no doubt that OSU sucks the air out of the room for Akron in NEOhio, but it is hard to fight it. It is much easier to feel OK about OSU with Tressel, a UA alum, coaching. He is just such a high quality guy-- too bad Akron wasn't able to get him as coach 20 years ago! Think where we might be now...
zipsfan2001
I will tell you this. I was in Austin from Thursday-Sunday and it was amazing. I wore my Akron shirt on Thursday night and I got a lot of love from OSU fans. They all talked about Getsy and how they were pulling for us. Only one A-hole made a comment about Akron sucking.I watched the 2nd half of the Akron game at a local restaurant that was taken over by Buckeye fans. I will estimate 100 Buckeyes to 8 Longhorns. Anyway....the Buckeye fans all cheered when they put the Akron game on and saw they were winning 7-3. Instead of leaving people said they would stick around and watch the Zips before tailgating. With a few minutes left in the game the bartender turned off the Akron game so they could show Oklahoma. Everyone started yelling at the bartender "Because they didn't care about Oklahoma."It was fun to watch. The bar cheered like crazy for the Zips and everyone went nuts when Kennedy plunged in for the score. Everyone in the place was pulling for and talking about the Zips. So, we need to stop ripping on Buckeye fans because all it does is show envy. If we take care of business like beating NC State, people will start supporting Akron more and more. Hating the Buckeyes just makes you look like a jealous family member that complains about how life isn't fair.
zen
So, we need to stop ripping on Buckeye fans because all it does is show envy. If we take care of business like beating NC State, people will start supporting Akron more and more. Hating the Buckeyes just makes you look like a jealous family member that complains about how life isn't fair. This makes A LOT of sense.I agree with the people who hate OSU, and I am willing to admit that it's envy. But I need to stress that the problem isn't OSU, and it's not Buckeye fans. The problem is the media and people in North East Ohio (particularly the media) who refuse to acknowledge the existence of the zips.We can't change them by wishing OSU didn't exist. We can change them by making it blatantly obvious to them that there is a phenomenon in Akron that needs to be noticed and cannot be ignored.
