Hilltopper
I stumbled across this Facebook page a few weeks ago. Lots interesting photos and comments about the Rubber Bowl. There are even some comments regarding the future of the bowl from its current owner. Enjoy!https://www.facebook.com/groups/1467742330193691/1515242628776994/?notif_t=group_activity Edited January 15, 2016 by Hilltopper

Buckzip
Thanks for linking that. I miss the RB. My dad took us to the Acme-Zip game every year when I was a kid. Probably the best memories I have of that time. We'd go early for the soccer game and look forward to the sun going down so we weren't blinded. The fireworks and parachute guys were great. How could we sell out the RB every year but can't come close at Info?

The 2003 Akron-Can't game was a great atmosphere (but horrible choke job by Akron). It was also the season opener and had 35,000. With so many P5 conferences playing an extra league game, its nearly impossible for the MAC to make that a season opener, but you move it up to September, and a Saturday, and it will sell out again.
uhgrad2002
The Acme-Zip game had a lot going for it. Discounted tickets, a variety of attractions, lots of support from a local corporate sponsor that people interacted with daily. It was really about more than football so it attracted a large audience that was getting a lot for their money.
Buckzip
It was a good time and for much of it we were D2. It didn't matter though.
