College soccer news has long story on the zips

This does not identify who wrote the article.    The writer still shows Jesse Garcia as a member of the zips and that is obviously wrong.  They show Goncalo Soares as a forward and we know that Goncalo mostly played last year as a defensive midfielder.  Andrew Souders is referred to in one part of the article as Andrew Sounders and another time, he is shown as just Andrew Sounder.

I am going to show my poor technical soccer knowledge and ask for some help from fknbuflobo or someone else who is very knowledgeable about the soccer position terminology.  I think of midfielders as either defensive or holding midfielders like Victor(or Perry Kitchen in the championship year) or offense or up front midfielders....like Adam or Richie last year or "ampai" in the glory years.  This article says that Jesus Perez can play the 6 position or the 8 position.  What does a 6 position player do and what is a 8 position player supposed to do?

The article also obviously mentions Adam Najem.  Travis Clarke of Top Drawer soccer has previously said that Adam will not be back.  ZTV (ziptv) twitter has said that Adam will not be back.    Again, I do not know who wrote this article.   I hope this writer has more current info than Travis Clarke.   All zip fans would love to see Adam back on the cub cadet field in the fall.   Adam is an excellent student and is a leader and as Creighton soccer remembers...Adam is great on free kicks.   I hope that this article is correct about Adam returning.

There is a boatload of information out there on this topic.  Five minutes on Google rendered link below.  Note difference between #6 and #8.  There are probably better links out there.  Best research begins by asking the right question, correct?;)

Naturally, this changes depending upon the formation.  This example is 4-2-3-1, the most common modern formation.

Let me know what you think.  I would rather discuss these topics than do just about anything else, including my job.           #soccernerd.
