Spoke to Frank Stams at the outing. He seems pretty excited to be following Charlie and the Zips this season. He promised to practice objectivity while still being the "Akron Guy." I had never met him before...seems like a really nice guy.

Disappointment of the outing: Thomas drove Dambrot around on a golf cart during the front 9. Dambrot waved "hi," and sped past. It would have been nice to meet the guy. Oh well...

Also: No JD at the outing. He was at the Ohio State football camp along with 3 other coaches. Only Pry and Flemming were in attendance.

Also...I wouldn't worry about Ringer getting his fair share of totes this year (if you read this site, Jerrel!). I just think it will be a bit different this upcoming season, where 3 or 4 guys will get carries, as opposed to 2003 when Hendry was the only one allowed to touch the ball.

CK...........

RB isn't going to come down to "permissions"...........

It's going to come down to who will give up their lives to protect "The Franchise". Any time a club has a guy like that, the number one issue at his side (especially when you've got a paper mache line in front of him like UA's) will be protection. You could have a back on the team the quality of..............well, you name a great one....but if he won't blast that 6'4" 250 lb LB breaking thru to kill 5, he ain't seeing the field.

We don't have a line which will adequately run block to give us any kind of running attack anyway, real sorry to say.

So, it sucks for Jerrell (who I really like) and whoever comes in froma JUCO, like it sucked for Dan and Bobby last year.

Another thing (technical).........let's say you have a real super blocking back and a back who's maybe a better runner. It will only take..............oh, maybe two games..............for opponents to read the tendencies and figure that trick out.............so your back to a feature back, with maybe underutilized talent locked on the sideline. Catch 22. But the price you pay for having "A Franchise Trigger Man".

Z-P: You gotta have faith!

BTW: I saw Tim Crouch and Jim Borecci at the outing. Pretty beefy paper mache! ;)
