We're in for a Battle!

When was the last time that Can't State beat both Miami and Bowling Green in football in the same year? When was the last time that Can't State opened up the season 2-2 and 2-0 in the MAC? This has to be a media conspiracy fomented by those three "experts" that picked Can't State to win the MAC East. I don't know how they did it but Can't is now a team to be reckoned with? Please tell me I'm dreaming.

Give me a break guys. We own those bitches. I think you're going to find next week that Can't State really isn't that good, Miami and BG are just that down this year. We roll through Can't next week by three touchdowns +. The offense is starting to click and our defense held PSU and NC State to under 300 yards. What will they do to the flushes. Nough said about that bullshit.

Akron will win next week. Think of the game the way a gambler would. When is the last time Can't State won three in a row? What are the odds of them winning three in a row? Answer those questions and you will know that Akron will win next week. Can't State will not respond well to winning two in a row.

Good points GP1. I can't believe some of you are actually respecting the Flushes. They embarrass themselves as usual in their first two games, come back and beat two very down MAC programs, and now we're supposed to think they have a chance of beating a team they haven't beaten in a decade (forget that '03 fluke) that also happens to have its best team in that decade?? Give me a break. We'll walk into Dix, probably have more fans than they do there, and the Zips will wipe the turf with the backs of those ass clowns and go home, much like last year, only with no snow and 40 mph wind to hold us to only 35.

This is what scares me. Akron has been known to lose games that they are supposed to win. I saw us collapse against army. We totally got let down with Ball State last year not to mention Central. And then we lose to Central again this year when we really could have won the game.Sure, I think on paper we should beat Can't, but these guys didn't beat BG. They slaughtered them. I'm not saying we will lose, but I just got a bad feeling. It will be a good game though nonetheless.

When was the last time Akron beat both Miami & BG in football in the same season? Can't is obviously better than expected but I'm more afraid of us beating ourselves if we make mistakes or don't improve from week to week in all phases of our game. It looks like we have been a bit too hasty in writing off Can't State as our rival...this is a huge one still in the first half of the season. It's probably a good thing we didn't play them earlier ... we may have been caught off guard.

If you look at the stats of the last two games that Can't won, they did it by forcing a lot of turnovers. Yesterday BG had six and I believe Can't had none. That was the difference. That game was a lot closer than the score indicated. Against Miami they were dominated statistically, but they beat the Redhawks by forcing a lot of turnovers. Miami still almost overcame it though. Similar to our game against Central. If the Zips hold on to the ball, they win. Can't is not on the same talent level as Akron, but they are improved. I'm impressed by them. They are a program on the rise. The ball did bounce their way against Miami and BG. Although they are getting better, they did get clobbered by a middle of the pack Big Ten team and lost a very close game to an Army team that isn't very good.

I'm not TOO concerned with Can't. I'm a little more concerned than when the season started, but still not too concerned. You have to remember that Miami and BG are both trying to replace QB's. Everyone in the country knows that BG has NO defense (heck Buffalo hung 40 on them). Miami is 0-4 this year. They are definitley NOT a good team. This is a rivalry game and truly anything can happen but if you look across the board we are clearly more talented than any team in the East right now. If we can't win out in the East I would be truly surprised.

You never know in college football, but I think that it's going to take a bunch of fluky nonsense for Can't to win against the Zips. We're talking turnovers, special teams touchdowns, blocked kicks, goofy stuff of that nature. If Akron plays the way that they are capable of, they'll win this game running away. Of course, the issue is whether or not they will actually be able to do just that, with the inconsistency on offense and in the kicking game. (Well, okay, the kicking is consistently BAD.) The defense is solid, though, and I definitely think the Zips will rise to the occasion and flush Can't. :screwks:

I am not to concerned about this game. I feel that even with poor special teams play we will beat them. Some of you obviously don't take into consideration to how many points we put up when the offense is clicking. I am only concerned for our field goal and PAT teams, they need to improve greatly. The kick return and punt return (thanks to Harvey) is the only special teams phase of the game that is in order.
