UA Fan
Awesome 1 handed TD catch by Harvey with a DB right on him. Another missed PAT 26-0 Zips
UA Fan
78 & 79 yard kickoff returns now for Harvey. TD pass to Poindexter and PAT is good
UAZipster0305
Seems like the team is playing great: 33-7 with 4:50 left in the second quarter. Approximately how many fans are at the game?
UA Fan
I haven't seen any camera shots of the home side stands. It seems like the crowd is decent but not great. I'll guess between 10-15k.Just need to keep it rolling early in the 3rd quarter, then get some backups in for evaluation & to get some game experience, including QB. Sounds like the rain has held off so far.
UAZipster0305
Another missed field goal! This kicker is terrible. There is no way we could win a game on a last second field goal!
UA Fan
Domonkos hits the upright on FG attempt...at least he was close.Getsy is doing a good job of not forcing throws into coverage. I'll take a sack over an INT if the receivers are covered.
UA Fan
2nd half wasn't pretty but it's the home win we needed. We'll have to play 4 tough qtrs next week. Beat Can't !
ZachTheZip
Just got back from the game, here are some random post-game thoughts. I was really happy with the way the back-ups played. Aaris Reed was in for a few carries, The only thing that suprised me was no back-up QB that I saw. The RB from NT is a very good player. I see him getting 2,000 yards sometime in his career. Blocked punts are not good. Goal-line defense is not bad at all. Is it just me, or was Kasperek getting some time on defense? Can't State looks like the real deal, but I still say . The bleachers in the student-section are pretty messed up. They could be tarped soon. 16,000 people showed up ; not bad, but not that good. Without the High-school bands there would have been a pretty dissapointing turnout. That Drum Major guy was awesome during halftime. I'll put up more thoughts after I can think straight (probably tomorrow). Oh, and thank God for no rain!
Zip_ME87
The bleachers in the student-section are pretty messed up. They could be tarped soon. To me, it was disappointing to have the students sitting in the corner of the end zone on the "away" side of the field. I'm a 42 year old alumnus with a season ticket on the Zips side of the field, but I would much prefer to sit with the students, especially the AK Rowdies and the band. They make the game so much more fun. I liked it better when the students sat next to the reserved section. Those making the noise and getting into the game deserve better seats and to be closer to the team.As far as the game goes, the special teams set the Zips up with some pretty nice field position. I'm not sure the offensive stats were as good as the score. I could be wrong; I'll have to look them up.
msopher
Alright, I finally made it to my first game at the Rubber Bowl. A few guys from the history department tagged along and our initial thoughts was that this was a glorified high school game. I know that will upset plenty of you, but it's not really Akron's fault. North Texas was a horrible opponent, absolutely bad. Throw in a small and dead crowd, a few thousand students, and that's why it felt like 2 high school teams were going at each other. I hope Akron gets a stadium on campus in the next 5 years because having our conference champs playing in front of that small of a crowd is embarassing for the conference. Sorry if that upsets several of you, and I wish there was a quick solution to this problem. The game was not all that bad but North Texas really sucked and Akron's lack of effort in the 2nd half only made things worse. Throw in 2 blocked punts, a missed 24 yd FG and 2 extra points, and this game certainly was not one I'd rank in my top 10. I wish Akron the best of luck the rest of the way except for that date in Toledo.

I wasn't at this one but i've been to plenty others. The stadium is coming. We've got to give them time.

I'm sorry, but maybe this city doesnt deserve to have a solid 1-A team playing in their back yard.
