you cant blame kd for the ad for the schedule.from what kd has said no one will come to our house.they are afraid of getting beat by a mac team. what are we supposed to do play all acc teams on the road?i dont like the schedule either but it's kind of the same thing in football being in the mac.

Akron even offered teams 70,000 dollars to come play here, and no one will. i guess its good to be feared.
try upwards close to 100,000 for a pitt team that is only 1.5 hours away on bus. That one was almost complete until the fear finally hit of playing a MAC team that has only lost once at home in two years and third longest home win-streak in the country (i think) at their place. Pitt would not like that on their face for a lot of reasons. It would not be worth the 100,000 for them.Think about all it would hurt with their recruiting efforts in not only basketball but football. all of the kids that are in close proximaty around the akron and pitt areas. this would also look bad since we just stole a couple from their own back yard. (see sweich and mcneese)Go Zips! and as always... :screwks:

Strange as it may sound, Akron is one of the more feared teams when it comes to playing at the JAR.
Bingo. The schedule is what it is because teams don't really want to play the Zips. Has a lot of truth to it at home, but also on the road. Some scuttlebut at the BBall golf outing on Saturday said that even the CBE classic was supposed to put the Zips at one of the other regional sites on the East coast, only to have the host team refuse to have the Zips in their 4 team group. Not sure if there's truth to it, but if so .. teams seem to be avoiding Keith's club.

It's not KD's or the athletic department's fault. It's the fault of the pansies from big conferences who are afraid of what losing to a MAC school does to a tournament resume. There's a great (if lengthy) article up on espn about the situation.clicky
