Dan Kadar
I got my copy at Barnes & Noble ... in Boardman. Haven't checked the Fairlawn location, but they have a pretty good selection of magazines there. It's actually semi-thrilling to see Akron in the top 25. Dorky, I know. Not to change the subject...but how bad will it suck to see K.e.n.t football in the "Others receiving votes" sections of some polls in a week or two? you am i
i just checked the cbs sportline website and there is no listing for akron in any of their top 25 polls, even for teams outside the top 25 but getting votes. akron was not ranked in the ap poll, the coaches poll, or the sportsline website poll. the rpi ranking lists akron at #66.why the sportsline magazine would rank them at #20 is a mystery to me. even as a fan, its hard justifying this team being ranked that high before it has proven itself.btw, nevada is ranked #20 in the ap poll, so beating them would get some attention. Can't got a few votes in the coaches poll.

Dorky, I know. Not to change the subject...but how bad will it suck to see K.e.n.t football in the "Others receiving votes" sections of some polls in a week or two? That would be a disgusting thing. If anyone is interested, below is what Akron's top-25 write-up says in the Sportsline magazine. The real team preview is a little longer. -------------------------------#20 Akron ZipsWhen you boast the preseason conference Player of the Year and two players on the preseason first-team All-MAC squad, it should come as no surprise that you are ranked among the top-20 teams in the country. That's where the Zips find themselves, thanks in large part to the return of seniors Romeo Travis and Dru Joyce. Travis, our pick for MAC Player of the Year, is the team's leading scorer and rebounder and is quite effective around the basket despite being listed as 6-foot-7. Joyce runs the offense from his point-guard position and can both distribute and find his own shot if necessary.l Akron posted a 23-10 record a season ago and returns four of five starters, so clinching the automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament is a realistic goal. And that may be the only way the Zips can ensure an invitation to the Big Dance since it's hard to envision the conference obtaining an at-large bid, but stranger things have happened.-------------------------------The magazine picks two MAC teams, Akron and Ohio, to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Ohio is given a 13 seed versus Nevada, Akron a 12 seed against Xavier. Both lose in the first round. (but I think Akron could take Xavier. The Zips match up pretty well against Xavier size-wise. Of course the Musketeers are a little bigger, but don't have player taller than 6-foot-9. They do have an excellent point guard in Oklahoma transfer Drew Lavender, but Joyce and Cedrick Middleton could keep up with him.)Sportsline ranks the top 64 teams and it includes Akron (20), and Can't State (61) from the MAC.
