Frye is playing on a terrible team with poor play calling. Getsy just isn't as good as last season indicated. He can't produce when he's under pressure and it seems other teams have figured this out.
Frye is on a bad team with some pretty poor playcalling...but cmon man, he's been mediocre at best. Look up his 4th quarter numbers alone...pathetic when it matters most

I understand that playcalling and OLs have something to do with the productivity of a QB, but let's be real....that is not the reason for the lack of show from these 2. Toledo's QB was rid of the ball within 3 seconds of the snap almost 75% of the time. Quick passes like that, OL doesn't make a difference 'cause the ball's gone before the DL can get to him. Quick passes from Luke would be nice! Agreed that Charlie's always been mediocre. I seemed to be the only one that realized that when he was at Akron. Browns took him 'cause sadly he was better than what they had.

I disagree that Charlie has always been mediocre. He was a great COLLEGE quarterback. I just don't think he pans out to anything better than a good backup in the NFL though.

C'mon any resemblence between the Browns and a REAL NFL o=line is purely happenstance. With ball ammubition lock and load.
And you think Frye would be playing well otherwise? Many of his mistakes have been when he's had plenty of time...you can only blame the o-line for so much...

You are wrong. Without an offensive line what can happen other than mistakes, injuries and losses? It is impossible to blame the o-line enough!

So you think with a decent line Frye wouldn't be doing as poorly as he is? Honestly?

sgm405,You are absolutely right. Frye is what he is. Don't waste your time. These guys spent four years while he was at Akron making excuses for the guy. Nothing is ever his fault. If it's not play calling, it's the o-line or it's the defense or the receivers can't catch or there is no running game. The excuses go on and on and on and on.

It's the same thing with Charlie as it has been with Luke. Everyone always has an excuse of why they aren't getting their job done....OL, dropped passes, coaching. Granted, those are problems some of the time, but NOT ALL THE TIME!!!! Finally, in this last game, people started to admit that he isn't all they have talked him up to be! He's not half that!

We, as Akron fans, thought he was great because he is the first QB we have had that looked as good as he did.
Are you old enought to remember Mike Johnson in the late 80's? Many fans have blocked out the Faust years, but there were some great players who played for him here.

It's not that it's forgotten. It's the fact that it was 20 years since there was any sign of life, so when Charlie rolled around, everyone thought he was God. He was and OK QB, but not great. It's just that we hadn't seen anything in 20 years, so he gained a hype about him that with a streak of winning seasons, that hype wouldn't have been there.

Good points. However, the longest streak of winning seasons Frye had was two. His first and second seasons were losing records. His junior year they went 7-5 but two of those wins were against I-AA teams and his senior season (6-5) was saved by Brett Biggs.Like all bad high school coaches, Lee Owens hung his career on one player. How did that work out for him?

Yes, I remember Mike Johnson, and Jeff Switzer, and Vernon Stewart, and my favorite, Marcell Weems. However, I feel Frye was a better passer than any of them.

He might have been better than them, but that still does not mean that he is what I consider a quality college QB. I think the same situation goes for Charlie and Luke. They were mediocre QB that had the receivers and running backs to make them look good. Luke's stats last year were what made everyone think he was amazing. He had Biggs, Hixon and Montgomery to make him look good. Some of the catches those boys made.......unbelievable.

Although I agree that Hixon was a good receiver, you make it sound like this was Matt Linart, having Bush, Jarrett , WIlliams and all the other future 1st rounders at his disposal.Biggs was a decent back. He was nothing special. Montgomery was a decent receiver, again nothing special. Frye was not mediocre in my opinion. He was a good college QB.Not an elite QB, but a good college QB.

Behind a good offensive line Frye would be doing fantastic, and the Browns would have a winning record. Come on, have you all seen the Browns? How many interceptions went right off the hands of Braylon Edwards or the facemask of Reuben Droughns?A bad O-line and RB could make Steve Young look like crap, and a good O-line and RB allowsTrent Dilfer to win the Super Bowl.

Someone should come up with a ten excuses for Frye key to save people time typing. Each excuse could just have a number that people would place into their post when they feel the never ending desire to make an excuse for his lack of winning.Everyone remembers the passes people drop, but do they remember the fourth quarter interceptions in the end zone two weeks in a row, poorly thrown deep passes, taking too many sacks. I was at the game and the crowd groaned when the Browns ran on third and forever late in the fourth quarter. Romeo was not going to put the ball in Frye's hands late. Charlie is a big boy now and needs to be held accountable for the mistakes he makes. There is plenty of blame to go around for the Browns season so far and Frye needs to take some of the blame also.

Here's an idea. Everyone expects instant winning. And that may come from someone out of the draft that's used to playing in front of raucous 100k+ stadiums, home and away. Charlie hasnt even played a full season yet. In fact, he'd never played a home game for more than 30k fans until his first start at Browns Stadium. He has the skills to be a good player in the NFL, excuses aside, let's give him a full year at the helm of this team and reserve our judgement for next year at this point in the season, if the O-Line keeps him alive till then.
