Ballingirl
And this seasons awards:Most consistent: Crouch...too bad it was for consistent penalties and for being the most consistent worst player! Most disappointing: Getsy...I never liked the kid, but with all the pre-season hype, I was hoping he was going to prove me wrong this year! Unfortunately not! He needs to learn to take a hit...it may have resulted in MANY more completions this season!Biggest sissy: see aboveMost embarrassing: Entire kicking team.....any more soccer players that want a try? How bout basketball? Softball? ANYBODY?? We haven't found a good kicker yet. Most underrated: A. Walker and Lindsay...I'm looking forward to seeing more of each next year. I think with work this winter and spring, Walker can give Kennedy a run for his money...no pun intended. Most heart: Groza and the rest of the defense....proven in the OU gameMost overrated: Jabari. After his performance at the Bowl game last year, he was looked at to bring an explosion this season. Doesn't that require catching a ball first? The talent's there, but the basics need to come back. That was the problem with the whole team.Standout: Alleman. He was our OL at times when we thought we had nothing!
Buckzip
You forgot "most worried about leaving"That goes to JD. We worried for nothing.
blueandgold
Lets add:Biggest surprise: David HarveyMost under-utilized: Kris KasparekFreshman of the year: David HarveyMVP: David Harvey
ZipAnalyst
I believe this post on "Rasor on the Zips" is by none other than Mike Rasor himself. If I am correct then Rasor gets:"Zip Football Pollyanna of the Year," to wit:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Overall, J.D. Brookhart is still doing a great job.If you look at the bright points of this team, they wouldn't exist without him: Dennis Kennedy? David Harvey? Luke Getsy, to a lesser extent? He's an offensive specialist. Defense is not his forte, nor will it ever be.He still deserved his extension. A lot of people are simply being impatient with one bad season.Posted by: Miike----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
johnnyzip84
How about the "will his health, stamina or attitude ever allow him to play 75% of the game" award to Nate Robinson. I sure hope he can somehoe play more downs next year, because he definitely makes a huge (pun intended) difference when he's in there. zipzroo
Most over rated-JD! Man can't coach his way out of a paper bag! He needs to get assistants he can trust and let them do their job! Have you ever seen him on the sideline not holding papers? No! He needs to let an offensive coordinater call the plays, let a defensive coordinator run the D, and let a special teams coach run special teams! He needs to coordinate everything, but trust them to run the games! As a head coach, I think he is a good computer salesman.
Lee Adams
ziproo is on it, Brookhart is overrated right now...the rest of the MAC coaches caught up and he did not progress either in prep or on the sideline...JD has way too many excuses for why people HE supervises did not do a better job...most coaches do..if you want to be MOST coaches....see JD Brookhart...a consistent winner???!!careful with Harvey...may not have hands...jabari arthur? lets see somebody get the ball to him...on "D" nobody stands out this year..thats scary are there any playmakers??sorry about friday but WMU-35 Akron-14akronoldtimer
Sergeant Zip
Biggest Quitter: Dionte HenryIf I'm not mistaken, didn't he quit the team after losing his starting position this spring.Workout Freak: Andy Alleman
ZipAlumn
How about the giving the "Pie in the Sky Mathematician" Award to the guy in the Athletic Department that counts the attendance at the home games.
Ballingirl
Lee Adams....believe me, I am one of the biggest critics of Luke, and this season has made everyone else realize what I have been saying about him since the beginning of last year, but he has put the ball within catching range of Jabari more than enough times for Jabari to get some good catches. More times than not, Jabari has dropped it. And for the awards I forgot......Most under-utilized: Agreed....Kris KasparekMost unhealthy: Agreed....Nate Robinson (But I still haven't figured out whether they are real injuries or mostly "I'm a baby" injuries.Biggest waste of space and scholarship money: Clarence McPherson..from everything I've heard, that kid has done nothing but complain and throw an attitude at anyone and anything that comes his way. Coaches should have let him walk when he wanted to.Most missed: Igor...he couldn't have possibly been worse than what we have!!!
fear the brown roo
Biggest Quitter: Dionte HenryIf I'm not mistaken, didn't he quit the team after losing his starting position this spring.i'd have to go with cryin' bryan howe who not only managed to quit this year but last year too. at least this year he didn't quit quitting and stuck to it and actually quit. did i make any sense there??? neither did walking away from a full ride I-A scholarship to go pay to play ball in the 13th grade down in canton.
