Bleacher Bum Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Can't had a chance to beat Duke tonight and blew it. They led with a little over 10 minutes left then couldn't make free throws and turned the ball over too many times. It was a wild one for most of it though. Quote
zen Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Yeah, I couldn't believe it. I was rooting for them! *ducks* Seriously, this was the #6 team as well as being 'Duke'. I couldn't help but root for Can't.But then reality set in. lol Quote
ZipAlumn Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 While Can't is playing Ohio State and Duke; Buffalo is playing Pittsburgh and Miami (Fl.); Toledo is playing MArist and Louisville; Akron gets to "tune up" on such powerhouse teams as Tiffin and Niagara. Don't go by records when the MAC Conference games begin. Quote
Bleacher Bum Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 I was rooting for Can't in the first half too. It woulda been sweet to see a MAC school knock off Duke, but then I realized how much I'd rather see Ken't blow a chance to beat Duke. Quote

Don't go by records when the MAC Conference games begin.Yeah, I swear if we get three crap teams to start the home season off again next year, I'm going to save my time and money and buy a couple of blocks of tickets for the remainder of the schedule. I just can't STAND paying to watch those kind of tune-up games. DO IT ON THE ROAD IF YOU'RE GOING TO DO THAT!!! Damn! I just remembered that we're already guaranteed BINGHAMTON at home. Do we also get Niagara?! UGH!!!Ooops, forgot to comment on the main subject of this thread ... nope, can't bring myself to support the MAC in this case - way to go Duke! Quote

Don't go by records when the MAC Conference games begin. To be fair, Niagara was a payback game for a bracketbuster 2 years ago. That year Niagara was an NCAA tourney team. The game at the JAR that year was a good one. It sucks that Niagara has stipped so much in the past two years, but that isn't our scheduler's fault.Conversely, Marist is playing well this year, but they're hardly the caliber of and MVC team.I also believe the quality of our schedule would have jumped tremendously had we beaten UALR and played Texas Tech. We beat Texas Tech and it makes another quantum leap with the opponent the following weekend. Unfortunately, we lost Game #1.I agree the quality of opponents needs to increase next season. I'd rather be 5-4 at this point with a key win or two, rather than 7-2, with some Division III wins, and wins vs. 300+ ranked D1 teams. Quote
RACER Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 you can talk about toledo, and Can't playing the harder schedule. the fact is they lost all of those games. a loss is a loss is a loss.if you beat those teams then that's great. to play them ,and lose is still a loss. id rather be 7-2 getting ready to play nevada than 5-4 now.if we beat them 8-2, and win over a top 20 team looks real good. Captain Kangaroo Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 a win over a top 20 team looks real good. Your chances of getting such a win increase dramatically if you play these teams more frequently. KD talks about wanting to be the next Creighton...Gonzaga...Butler, etc. You don't get there by playing the schedule we have this season.Trust me...I realize the beatdowns we've administered to the D-III creampuffs and D-1 dregs has enabled guys like McKnight, Conyers, etc. to get some valuable PT prior to the MAC season. But our pre-MAC schedule is what it is...too heavy on the cream puffs. Quote
