InTheZone
It appears that after last year's disaster JD Brookhart decided to clean a little house within the program and get rid of a few bad apples. Not returning to the Zips in the Spring are:Jamal Benjamin LBMickey Baker LBDeAndre Descott CBDelvin Davis CBDantley Cline DTJerrell Stoudemire DTNow, regardless of fall grades, no one ever fails out going into spring because you can always have a chance to earn enough hours in the spring and two summer sessions to get yourself eligible. With these guys not coming back for the spring this tells us that they were dismissed.

Buckzip
Wasn't Baker one of the top recruits last year? Most of those guys had grade issues.Did they quit, not make grades or were they kicked off the team?
skip-zip
Ya, Baker has been talked about alot as a great player. I shudder when I see that two defensive linemen are on that list too.
Zips fan
Addition by subtraction. Sometimes it is better to be without players, regardless of their ability, who don't fit into the programs philosophy. When players are removed, the rest of the team hears the message. When players are given reprimands and warnings, the rest of the teams hears that message as well. I have trust that JD is making decisions for the betterment of the program. I applaud the courage to make the moves now and move forward into spring with those who buy into JD program.
timmyboy
Mickey Baker was a great athlete, in his last season of playin football at Dodge City Community College he was a first-team NJCAA All-American as redshirt freshman posted 112 tackles, including 12.5 for loss, and a team-high five interceptions in 2005Jemall Benjamin was also a great athlete who i personally got to watch play in HS and he was a monster. i wonder what happened to get him removed from the team.DeAndre Descott received scholarship offers from Iowa, Indiana, West Virginia, Bowling Green and Ball State so he too must have been a very good athlete also.all of the other players looked to be scout team players who didnt really make much of an impact. If any of these players are on scholarship maybe they were removed from the team to get more scholarships for next year, because i seen they are already out recruiting heavy for next year. They offered QB/DB Dan Mccarthy from youngstown cardinal mooney ( amazing athlete, i have video on him if youd like to see) recently, as well as alot of local boys.
