Captain Kangaroo Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Aaron Alford (DB Coach) has accepted a position at the University of Utah! All the best to Aaron and his family. I met him a couple times. Super nice guy. Quote
timmyboy Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I also met him a few times at various football gatherings and he was a very nice guy. But were our DB's really as good as they could have been? werent we near the top in passing yards against us? I think it may be a good thing that we will be getting a new DB coach with all of the talented DB's we are getting in this recruiting class, maybe the new coach will be able to change our stats from last year. skip-zip Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 timmyboy...you're right. This was a very experienced unit that may have under-achieved last year. Quote
blueandgold Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 This is probably good for us. There are a couple other position coaches that need upgraded as well. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 timmyboy...you're right. This was a very experienced unit that may have under-achieved last year. With the exception of the K.e.n.t. game, I don't think the secondary was bad last season. It's tough to cover guys for 10 seconds. Our DL's inability to get pressure on opposing QB's typically made our secondary look bad. Quote
gozips19 Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 well said capt. beat me to it. if anything i'd like to see akron change up their scheme in the secondary and play a little more press coverage. they certainly have the speed to do so. the only problem is they need to get to the qb before you can make such an adjustment. lets hope this problem will be fixed this upcoming year. it sucks that coach alford left was a great recruiter on the east coast. does anyone know if his move was lateral or a promotion? zipboy Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 Good luck to him. I think that he was our recruiter in MD/VA who pulled some kids out? I know it is inevitable to lose people, but some continuity would be nice. Quote
