UAZipster0305
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/rankingsindexThe new ESPN/USA Today Poll is out and we didn't receive any votes. We had 7 votes last week and have won two big road games since then. WTF? How is that possible when we've won 23 games against D-I competition?Once again and just like the football and men's soccer teams in recent years, we seem to be getting screwed. zipsbandman
We put our hands into their fate by losing to Nevada, Arkansas Little Rock, and UIC. We already know we must win the tournament to get to the dance. I'm not complaining. We had our chances but it didn't happen. Lets get it done in Cleveland. We have a team capable of doing it. I could care less about RPI, rankings, or whatever.
skip-zip
Zipsbandman...those are my thoughts exactly. But I am still shocked that we would not have at least held our ground, or improved in the polls with the way we played on the road this week. zen
I have two theories:1) All of the recent action and drama at the end of the big conference schedules, as well as the start of conference tourneys has brought more attention (and votes) for other teams2) Some of the writers have been giving token lip-service votes to mid-major teams through out the year, but now that the time has come for the polls to truely reflect who should get into the big dance, they vote differently. This is akin to when they voted Michigan 2nd place in the football polls until the final week, even though Michigan had not even played the week before. (so, even though the situation is different, it demonstrates how those voters alter their vote when they think it has a bearing on bowls.... or in this case, tourneys)
zip37
GET THE HINT OUT THERE, THE MAC IS A ONE BID CONFERENCE IN RECENT YEARS, UNTIL THE MAC GETS A NATIONAL REP LIKE THE MVC, ONLY THE TOURNY WINNER GOES-- SO AN RPI MEANS VERY LITTLE.WITH BALL AMMUNITION LOCK AND LOAD, AND OF COURSE,
originalrowdy
Well, we're still getting some love in the AP AND.... a most recent update in ESPN's bracketology puts us in the consideration of an at-large should we get in the MAC champioship and lose... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bubblewatch?id=

That loss still bothers me and it was our season opener.

That loss still bothers me and it was our season opener. The main reason it hurt us is because it forced us to play #268 Gardner Webb instead of #40 Texas Tech. Just think of what that would done for our RPI, win or lose. I guess it really doesn't matter. Just win the MAC tournament. That's all we need to worry about right now. skip-zip
Guys, take a look at something....Creighton leap-frogged over us in the mid-major poll. And I think they just won their conference tournament. Is this not a good argument to end your conference tournament early? So that the polls that week can take notice of your accomplishments before the NCAA Tournament Committee starts handing out seeds?
