Agent Zero
Laing Kennedy allowed permission for Utah to talk to Christian. That's all that's known so far (I think?). Maybe someone else has information.
The Hip Zip
someone i work with told me UTAH wants to talk to Jim Christian...anybody heard anything?yep, its true. Not surprising given the history over there. Their philosophy seems to strongly suggest that its much easier to replace a talented coach than it is to pay them well. They have been lucky in finding talented replacements thus far, but that luck will not continue forever. Hey, Dan (meltdown) Dakich is available. Zip Watcher
There's been a lot of this kind of smoke the past 2 years w/ Jimmy C. Never any fire .... yet.Whatever happens, the guy is a hell of a coach .. the job he's done the past 2 seasons is nothing short of remarkable.I wouldn't trade our coach for Jimmy C, or anyone else for that matter .. but Jimmy's doing a bang up job over there. With what went down this year, don't think Christian has not taken notice. He probably wants out of the MAC just as much as we do.
Balki Bartokomous
I'm wearing a Utah hat as I type this. For JC's sake, I hope he takes the job.
Quickzips
I've got mixed emotions on this one.For one thing, anything that hurts Can't is almost always good IMO. Take away the coach responsible for many of their 20 win seasons and a lot of their good recruiting should, therefore be fine and dandy. But....I personally think that KD vs. Christian is a big part of what is taking this rivalry to new heights. The respect that those two have for each other along with the rivalry is apparent. Those two just get what it is about. Add to the fact that they are both fielding very fine teams and the Akron/Can't rivalry is quite healthy. This is a good thing for both schools and really all of northeast ohio. And....Taking away good coaches from the conference isn't going to help the current situation any. It is just going to hurt it. We need all the top quality teams we can get if we want to get to the point where we have enough respect nationally to maybe get a couple extra post season bids.So while I'd love to see Can't lose their precious JC, in the long run I think it hurts us, and the conference as well. I disagree. One less competitive team = better chance for zips winning the MAC tournament. I sure enjoy the Can't State rivalry, but lets face it as long as Christian is around they will be a threat to take that lone bid the MAC has. I can care less how the other teams in this conference do. If I had it my way, they would all suck and the zips would take the bid every year,
