Z.I.P.
Whoops, missed again! Here's to our season! My greatest fear is that the team may be playing close to their potential. They made some stops, but can't when it matters. Charlie's makin' Mel Kiper look good (he placed #5 #4 overall for the NFL draft). Too bad the rest of the cupboard's bare. Big Zip
What a let down -- punt return for a touchdown, fumble on are own 5 yard line, fumble on their 10 yard line, dropped pass for an interception. We beat ourselves in this game plain and simple. We gave them three scores and prevented ourselves from scoring once --- that's possibly a four touchdown swing. Glad to see Chase back playing linebacker -- could be trouble if he's out for the season. Glad to see fuller back at safety -- that is the righ position for him. Great game by Montgomery and Frye. The o-line is still terrible -- how did Frank Stams say they were the players of the game? What game was he watching? Brett Biggs is a stud -- Ringner played way too much -- he's far too tentative and Biggs second effort, tackle breaking and spinning were really impressive. Jabari Arther looks great at WR and Hixson looks strong too -- I think these three wide receivers are more than I expected. I liked the way the defense played in the second half (for the most part) MTSU adjusted to the blitzing that was stopping them and Akron forgot to adjust back. Too bad we can't get a pass rush unless we blitz -- when they went to nothing but screens they busted the blitz. One thing I hate about college football -- pass intereference is only a 15 yard penalty. I've always thought it was and the db who got burned from MTSU on the 50 yard bomb made the play of the game by tackling our WR. Speaking of the 50 yard bomb -- how did Frye get the ball down field so perfect like that running to his left and not even stopping to set his feet -- WOW! Someone is going to have to explain to me what happened at the end of the game. Seems like it was either a dead ball foul which would have meant we should have got 17 seconds back on the clock or we should have had to use a time out because the clock can't stop with a foul on the offense -- if you were out of time outs you'd just jump offsides. OH YEAH and last play of the game -- who the hell was our offensive coordinator trying to fool with play action? C'mon who was he trying to freeze? All in all there was a large improvement over last week -- PSU isn't as good as they think -- BC is winning 21-7 right now and they don't look that good. Although it's going to sound ridiculous if this team can get better again -- they may still have a shot in the MAC -- the MAC looks pretty bad this year. Sorry I didn't stop by the Zippy on a stick -- got their late and parked by the red garbage can --
