Guest Buffalobullsfan
Hey I see Street & Smith's predicts you to finish second in the MAC East this year behind Buffalo. What's the feeling there in Akron? Of course, we here in Buffalo are pumped because we have everyone back from last year's good season and we're getting good previews so far. Z.I.P.
 OR I'm not sure whether there'll be anything to keep MAC bb fans awake this year or not. It's testament to just how far the league has fallen, that (Heaven forbid) the Buffalo Bulls may be the best team in the league. They may, after all, not be among the top 100 teams in the nation. I fear the MAC may be falling below the Horizon League overall. That said, it would appear the Bulls are indeed the pre-season favorites. Can't will be a factor in the East. After that there's nothing but sheer mediocrity. I'm confident that in a year or two, Coach Dambrot will have assembled a group that will be at least very competitive, and possibly dominant in the MAC East. I really hope the rest of the league wakes up before its too late, or the league may not get two NCAA berths in our lifetimes. And that's quite sad. Zip Watcher
I have to respectfully disagree w/ Z.I.P. here. I think that UB has to be the favorite in the East, if not the whole conference, and it's in no way an indication the MAC has fallen. UB was more than solid last year, and with everything back plus a summer of practice & experience, I expect them to be a very good MAC team. No way do I think they'll be outside the top 100 if they meet the expectations of a MAC division winner.
Guest Buffalobullsfan
Well, the two games between Akron and Buffalo should be good ones this year. Last year a group of us went to the game in Akron on a Saturday afternoon in March. We really had a good time there in your newly-renovated arena. This year the same two teams play again on a Saturday afternoon in March only this time at UB in our newly-renovated arena. Come on up. Z.I.P.
Saw the Bulls' team play in La'ie two years ago. Had a nice talk with Coach Reggie. Good guy. I admit, I thought he was in over his head, but he's managed to find some fine players. Too bad they don't still have that EKU transfer that was on the team of 02 -- he was awesome. The big men were young and needed seasoning then. It appears they have improved since that. Good luck Bull. BTW -- try and get a decent logo on your FB helmets. That "horn" looks like either a whale or a cloud!

2005PANTHER
What's a zip anyway? I'm going to have to say it's a kangaroo seeing that is what our mascot is...
Z.I.P.
Ask Margaret Hamlin. Or else go to Gozips.com and click on "traditions" on the left margin. Have a good day.
Guest Guest
Hey Panther, if you're going to speak in the possessive, as in "our" mascot, brush up on the facts. Yes, "our" mascot is indeed a kangaroo, but Zip is short for Zipper, or a rubber boot with a zipper that was manufactured in Akron once upon a time. Our mascot and our nickname are not the same, kind of like Auburn and Stanford. Great Margaret Hamlin reference, Z.I.P. We have her to thank for being the butt of mascot jokes everywhere. Captain Kangaroo
Great Margaret Hamlin reference, Z.I.P. We have her to thank for being the butt of mascot jokes everywhere. Being a Zip is the coolest. Wouldn't trade that nickname for the world.
