2005PANTHER Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 That is all that went? 7, 123? I figured there would be more with all that was going on. Did any of last years men's basketball seniors attend the alum weekend? How was the attendance at the pep rally? Quote
zipboy Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 1-4 playing another 1-4 team will do that. Even if the Zips split the next 2, I think we get 25K plus for Marshall. That will put us at about 15K heading into Miami. I still don't see this 15K rule taking effect. No one has said this is a do or die year. Based on the rule, if Akron goes, so goes Purdue, MTSU, and TBA. I worry more about attendance from the point of growing the program, building a fan base, and getting more money. Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Based on the rule, if Akron goes, so goes Purdue, MTSU, and TBA. I'm curious .. what do you mean by that? Scenario #1: Say the 15K "rule" really existed...it DOES NOT...but say it did. Say Akron goes to 1-AA next season. Zips now force MTSU and Purdue to find new, last minute, 1-A HOME opponents for 2005. Not gonna happen. Scenarion #2: Miami, OH has the Zips at home in 2005...Say the Zips are now 1-AA...so Miami now has 4 home games vs. 1-A opponents, so it has to drop to 1-AA too? You need 5, 1-A home games, right? There are a billion loopholes and problems with this mythical 15k rule...which is why is is nothing but fodder for internet bulletin boards. It is not a rule, and never will be...unless the existing format is radically altered. Quote
Guest Mastodon Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Say Akron goes to 1-AA next season. If the rule does in fact exist, it's supposed to take AT LEAST 3 years before a team is "moved." First time is a warning, second time is restricted status, and then the next time must be consecutive seasons before you're moved. It's confusing. season1 14,000 warning season2 13,000 restricted status season3 15,600 off restricted status season4 14,500 restricted status season5 15,000 off restricted status season6 13,600 restricted status season7 12,000 relocated It all starts over after a 10 year cycle. This is what I remember reading on the MAC board. I'm probably fuzzy You guys might be able to dig up old threads if you care. Quote
