Hey guys, I was at the 3rd street parking deck and it was empty. Where did everyone end up? I felt like I was invited to a party and was the only one who showed up. There was one group there having a little get together, when I asked them if they were Zips Nation they looked at me like I was nuts. Hmmm, good judge of character!!I know that 17,000 wasn't a good showing but I thought they really tried to make the game nice. I enjoyed it completely. While the concessions were overpriced the cost of the program at $3.00 was great!I enjoyed the band pre-game show. I guess you can never go wrong with patriotic songs. Half-time was good too but I couldn't hear it very well. I liked the dark blue pants.I read that there were a few problems with some of the Army cadets but over all I thought the chemistry between the fans, players, etc. was very respectful. How about those hits!!!! The one is on youtube. Kasparek got hit pretty hard too. I hope he's all right. It looked like he was. I liked that the "stadium" graphics were rooting for the Zips. I wasn't sure it would.Overall, great weather, great air show, and a great first win for our team!!!

i agree. i enjoyed the game. the only thing that i didnt like about it was at the end, when the players were coming off the field.... they went to touch hands with the fans along the wall and the coaches started yelling at them to get into the locker room..... i think one of the biggest thing in college football is fan interaction, cuz without us fans the schools wouldnt be making the money. But other then that i think the game was very well set up, enjoyed the halftime, and the flyby before the game was great....... my cousin is in iraq as we speak, so that and the national anthem sent chills up my spine!

I was in the W. 3rd lot and saw 5 Akron flags flying. Now, we were in the lot north of the RR tracks right near the stadium.Bleacher Bum informed me that there was also a gravel lot off W. 3rd just south of the tracks closer to the Main Ave. bridge. As we were waving to each other, I noticed that lot wasn't very full. Is that the one you're talking about?

Wife & I were in the W. 3rd lot, right along the tracks. When we got there, there might have been 10 other vehicles. By the time we left at 6:15 to go to the game, the lot was getting full and plenty of tail-gaters.BTW, thanks for the info on the lot. This was our first time to the stadium and other than the muni lot, I had no idea where to go to party. Also, the wife like it because it was so close to the stadium.

The lot I was in was right next to the tailgate party where different groups were singing, the white tent was set up, and we walked north across the Amtrac tracks on the Browns board walk to get to the stadium. I followed the directions that were on one of the earlier posts. I swear there were no flags and maybe only 5 cars.

That's odd. We were in the W 3rd lot by about 2pm. A TON of us. I met Zipsrifle and KentZip for the first time. Others that stopped by were DrZ, Johnny Utah, Z-Pouch and more...a veritible cavalcade of stars!! ;) If you ever want to hook-up prior to a game, just PM me.

There were two lots in the same area, separated only by the train tracks. Both were on West 3rd and on the same side of the street. Luckily, one of my friends got there 5 minutes before me and talked me in on the phone. It was great to finally put some faces to the names here on the board. Looking forward to next week in columbus and the rest of the season.Could merit its own separate thread but.............The Athletic Department should be keel hauled for the ticket assignments for season ticket holders. Army fans were all between the 40's on the other side of the field. Non season ticket holder Zips fans were seated near mid field. With close to $600 spent on season tickets and parking this year, I was in line with the back of the endzone..... absolutely no excuse for that............ :nono::nutkick:

This is one you can't blame on the Zips Ticket Office. this game was staged by the Cleveland Sports Commision and they are the ones that did the seating assignments. Not everyone seating on the the home side was from Army. A friends father has Browns season tickets, so they got tickets for the game. They arrived expecting to sit with Akron fans and they were seated with the Armny faithful. If this event is going to continue, I would a couple of suggestions. 1. Give the option to season ticket holders to upgrade their seats. I would have gladly done that if there had been an offer. 2. For whatever school is the home team, let them sit on the home team side. I thought was kinda of weird for us being the home team and sitting on the opposite side. Screwy set-up. I hope they came away with some better ideas and things will get better with future games.

I would guess $15 for any ticket in the building would be much better than $15 for the endzone. We moved to the 40 yard line south side of the stadium at half time with no hassle. We were in the log behind the court house directly to your left when you come through the entrance. When it was all said and done we had 15 or 16 people tailgating with us. We got there around 4 p.m. Shouldn't be a problem to find everyone at the home games -- unfortunately for me I coach 9 and 10 year olds and we play Saturday afternoon -- the noon kick-off for the Can't game takes me out of the game. So I won't see any of you until October.

There were plenty of good empty seats between the 30's. With a game such as this, why not just charge one flat rate. The entire stadium could be general admission...first come, first serve. This way, everyone who wants to sit together...can.There were so many empty seats in this game, I can't understand being so strict about where people sit.I mean...just look at the empty seats here...P9010034_r1_c1.jpg

Captain. We set up shop in the extreme south east part of the W. 3rd lot...about 5 rows in from the embankment going up to W. 3rd...near the tracks and tunnel going under the street.Sorry we missed you.Let's be sure to meet at the next tailgate!

Once again, just like the Rubber Bowl, they are trying to throw long-time season ticket holders in other sections, and save the good seats for large donors (or, in this case, those willing to pay $45).There's two ways to look at this. One is that they are trying to make money, which is great. But, can you afford to do that at the expense of alienating loyal supporters? The biggest point is this...There were plenty of seats left in the middle of the field last weekend, just as there are plenty of seats in the middle sections of the Rubber Bowl to accomodate both your season ticket holders, and your big donors. It's just not necessary.

the announcers commented on the empty seats and said that it was a bad day for the game b/c the indians are hot and on tv, there was an air show, it was labor day weekend and many people went for a quick trip out of town, etc. they also went on to say that a thurs. night game late in the season at browns stadium would be better and draw more fans

Only the guys on the travel team got tickets for parents. JD said that that's all they could get for the team. I think the ppl who set up the game got greedy. But then again, they're used to dealing with pros and the big bucks. At least we got to take the whole team. They were served pizza and snacks after the game at the science center and said that the accommodations, locker room, etc were great.
