Hola Zip fans

I know quite a few people, even Suckeyes fans, who say that the hillbillies down in southern Ohio who come to their games are some of the WORST in the country when it comes to harrassing visiting fans.
Columbus is an awful city. I used to travel there for work a lot and I had to stay the night there frequently. I used to call it West Virginia West because is seems as if everyone there is from West Virginia as that is the closest city you can relocate to from West Virginia on a tank of gas in your pick up truck.I went to a local bar where I live around five Saturday to watch the Zips play. There was the usual obnoxious OSU fan (female) being real loud and all I could think of was something my father once told me. "Loud girls are easy." I'll never forget it.

GP1.... I used to spend time in Columbus on business as well. I used to go into the city to conduct business during the day, and then I would come back to my hotel far outside of the city at night. I did that by choice. I must admit, I do the same thing when I go to Cleveland. But as much as people brag about how Columbus has gotten nicer over the years, those changes have primarily taken place in the SUBURBS and not in the CITY. I read an article recently about how the U of OS officials are getting very concerned about how the city's problem areas are starting to infiltrate into the campus area. I guess they are really scrambling to find a solution to isolate themselves.

Thank you for your warm thoughts. What is the shoe? What game are you referring to? Our major weakness is the pathetically poor caliber of our OOC opponents.
Wow. I think it's great that you guys support your team but supporting your team does not mean tossing common courtesy out the window. "The Shoe" for the record is Ohio stadium which holds a little over 100,000 people and has sold out week in week out for the past 50 years or so. It is the place where Ohio States staff had the courtesy to invite your school to play against them in order to keep the money they pay visiting teams with Ohio schools. It also gives mid major schools a little well deserved exposure. I prefer to leave the smack talk to the football players.

Yes, special teams are a concern. Missed extra point, field goal and blocked punt against Army.
Special teams mistakes happen a lot early in the season. A blocked punt vs Ohio State could be a game changer. Our coaching staff is very good at game planning (with the obvious exception being the NC game vs. Florida) for opponent weaknesses. As for the Buckeyes, we have a lot of inexperience on offense. Beokman looks like he will be a very good qb but his lack of experience is a concern. We also did not runt he ball as well againts Youngstown State as I thought we would. We have one of the better offensive lines in the country but Youngstown seemed determined to make us throw it throwing 8-9 in the box consistently.Defensively we had a DE break his leg last week. Luckily our front seven has depth to burn so it isn't that much of a concern.

It's funny...Buckeyes fans are bashed constantly as a whole on this forum year round for lacking class. Then one comes over and appears to be looking to simply discuss the matchup and he gets ripped and ridiculed. Kind of hypocritical, no?
Yes...I agree.Friendly smack is one thing, but....

Cicero I think the key for each young QB is to minimize mistakes. Of course, your guys have Beckman surrounded by plenty of talent in the running game....Saw a bit of the App St. game last night. The body language of the Mich. players early on suggested to me that they weren't really up for the game. I think Tressel is going to use that huge upset as a lesson to try and keep his team focused!!!! Anything can happen. Hopefully Brookhart will have some tricks up his sleeve to help make this a great game. GO ZIPS

I agree. I saw the same sort of body language out of many of the OSU players during the YSU game. I think that Michigan game wakes everyone up a little bit. I think they realize they have to kick it up a notch this week or Akron will burn them in a few areas. Can't wait until Saturday!!
