Guest Zogby Gallup Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Somebody on the NO side must have been reloading their browser and voting NO a lot overnight because the poll has swung to NO by a 20% margin. At midnight it was 80-20 FOR now the poll is 60-40 AGAINST A NEW STADIUM. http://www.cleveland.com/poll/pollWKYCone.html Quote
Guest Lou Harris Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 All you have to do is qpen your browser, vote, quit your browser and repeat the proess and you can vote as many times as you like. Quote
zipper Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Might be faculty looking for a contract. It had to be a large bloc of people to swing the numbers so dramatically overnight, and I can think of no other large group who would so disfavor athletics. What a crock. I am losing sympathy for them quickly. Time to get out the vote! Quote
Guest ***GUEST_Zipboy Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Much like the Presidential polls the numbers "amazingly" have changed again...took 5 minutes... 60-40 down to 50.5 to 49.5 for.... Time to Flush the Bowl.... Quote
Guest True Zip Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 It was up and now it's down again. I tested it and you have to vote yes several times to get a .1% movement in the "for" column, so clearly there are extremely large numbers of a bloc voting against it, probably over and over. This reeks of a mass faculty email. At this point I think it would be shoddy reporting for Eric Mansfield to give this poll any credibility at all, especially with the faculty up in arms about not having a contract. Quote
zipsbandman Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Some people really need to get a life! Quote
Guest True Zip Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Got a life. Want a stadium. Just picture this - for the next TWO YEARS until groundbreaking, every time Eric Mansfield or Pax 23 does a piece on this subject, they will always add at the end, "A Pax 23 online poll conducted when the project was announced indicated only 22% approval for the project." Seriously, that is what the people at the university are facing. Look, this is going to be tough enough for the university to get this through as it is, you don't need the public to believe it's a bad thing because of some poorly designed poll where you can vote multiple times - and the bad attitudes of the faculty are behind the numbers. People around here watch the local news. Quote
Guest Zip88 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 University will build it whatever the poll says... Looks like Mike Thomas and Dr Proenza are serious about becoming a bona fide, respectable 1A football program and are doing now what should have been done 20 years ago when we made the jump. I was a student in the 80's when we left 1AA and the OVC. Completely screwed up Akron athletics for years...all other sports resented football cause the move left them without conferences. Muse and Dave Adams made us a laughing stock nationwide. Then Adams is fired and Muse takes off for Texas A&M and left us with the mess... Proenza must have naked pictures of Bob Taft in compromising positions... cause the $$$ poured into facilities upgrades has been amazing. If they put this together -- Wow... Quote
Guest Guest Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 Zip88 - A few corrections to your last post. Bill Muse left the Unversity of Akron for the presidency at Auburn University, not Texas A&M. And Bob Taft has little, if anything, to do with the campus enhancements at the University. What the state gives the University these days couldn't build a decent tree house. It was all funded through various bond issues, not state money. The days of massive state allocations are long ago and far away. Quote
Guest Zip88 Posted October 14, 2004 Report Posted October 14, 2004 My bad.. He did end up at Texas A&M after Auburn..didn't he??? His alma mater. As for bond issues etc... These do have to be approved by Board of Regents right? Aren't they appointed by Governor??? I know they are not "elected" positions..... University can't issue bonds without approval -- am I wrong here??? As for Taft, I was just attempting a little humor here -- apparently without much success.... Quote

Their loss...he's a dick. Quote
