Julian Edelman...

....and at the end of the game, after the Zips have THUMPED the flushes, he'll follow it up with backflip with a quarter twist, but I won't care because the Zips will have the Wagon Wheel back where it belongs. I can't get too down about the way the defense played today. Yes, the Indiana QB killed them today and true, Edelman is similarly elusive, but you guys are WAY overreacting. Two questionable pass interference calls made a HUGE difference in the outcome of today's game. Our D struggled against a tremendous athlete today, but I suspect he'll make a number of defenses look bad throughout the rest of the year. I believe both sides of the ball WILL put it together next Saturday, and the team will look at this game as the springboard for the remainder of the season. I see far too much good in this defense to give up on them after a subpar outing. And it was NOT the 3-3-5 that hurt today, it was simply having difficulty staying with two very shifty runners. Yes, Can't presents a similar package, but the game is in our house and that will make a huge difference. Also, don't forget the effort the Zips expended in trying to neutralize Hardy today. Can't presents no such weapon at receiver. Go Zips!!! :thumb::screwks:

why blitz the qb on third and long.all it did was open the middle of the field for the recievers and qb to run.how many times on third and long did the denfese give in.jd kept blitzing the lbs and it opened the lane up for the qb to run wild.why did we not have a spy on the qb.we cannot get pressure on the qb so why blitz the same guys all the time.

I hate it when posters say -- this team was real good or that team was real good or that qb is going to make a lot of people look bad this year. well guess what he had rushed for 118 yards prior to this game 59 against Indian State and 59 at Western Michigan -- some teams are going to contain him too and guess what if we did we win this game. Apparently there was some game film out there on stopping him from running. I hate to say it, but his rushing was very similar to that miserable game at Can't last year.

Yes, Can't will bring a similar package at us next week, but I can assure you that Edelman is not as blazing fast as the Indiana QB.
I agree completely. Why is this board so scared of Can't's QB? They snuck up on people unexpectedly last season and by the end of the year fell apart and ended up only 6-6. You guys make it sound like they were some powerhouse.

GP1...let me add to your thoughts....Can't has beaten an AWFUL Iowa State team, got blown out by Kentucky, and beat up on a Delaware State team that plays I-AA.Not sure I'd call that an impressive resume at this point.
While all that is a given (except that they played Kentucky nearly even, except on the scoreboard and that AWFUL Iowa State team just beat Iowa), at this point K-ent is playing the best football in the MAC. On the other hand...If we get back the Wagon Wheel (as I expect to), Zips get the target on their back, and become the faves in the East. Jus'do it Akron! Wish I could be there.

Buckzip....Indiana's offense racked up 41 points yesterday on the same Akron defense that kept your Buckeyes out of the end zone for nearly 3 quarters the week before. If I were you, I'd probably be very wary about passing judgement on Indiana. But heck, people are entitled to say whatever they want to say.My comments about Can't were about Can't, and what I think about their resume so far. It had nothing to do with how I felt about Akron. Z.I.P. - Iowa State has lost to Northern Iowa too. So, I'm certainly not going to call Can't's win over them to be anything to write home about at this point. Maybe Iowa State is turning the corner, and will prove to be much better than everyone first thought. We'll see.

That was exactly what I was thinking as I was watching it, so it would seem to me that we lack the capacity to contain mobile QBs. There had better be some MAJOR defensive adjustments this week. Yesterday's game was a winnable one had we not allowed their QB to scramble for 20 yards on 3rd and long every time it came up.

Worry about Edelman!!! What about Jarvis? Against Delaware St Jarvis carried 22 times for 136 yards and one touchdown. He added three catches for 51 yards and another score. He rushed for over 100 yards for the third consecutive week in a row. He is the best back in the MAC right now, No Question about it.

Hey JohnnyZip -- where are you celebrating your one year anniversary of posting on this board? Welcome aboard the bandwagon we've been waiting for you. :moon: If Edelman doesn't scare y'all then you weren't in the stands at Can't last year watching the Zips try to find a clue how to stop him. IMHO that was the most embarassing loss I've seen in a long while. The Big Ten/Big Twelve etc. thumpings I can live with a lot easier than the beat down they served up to Akron last year. I hope JD shows them the tape from last year's game in film sessions this week.

LOLYou obviously didn't watch the OSU-Washington game because OSU seemed to have an entirely new play book. Tressel even said in the pre game interview that he didn't open the play book during the first 2 weeks of the season. All he did was run vanilla plays and rotate a ton of players starting on the 2nd and 3rd drives. Yeah, Akron's D played good against OSU, but lets not fool ourselves. They could have put up 50 if they really wanted to. If you think Indian's offense is even on the same planet as OSU's you really need to watch more football.

I suppose since I've only been on this board for almost a year, that immediately implies that I'm a neophyte to Zip football. If you bothered to read any of my posts, you'd know that I do indeed fear Edelman, as well as Jarvis and the Can't team in general. I just happen to think we'll find a way to beat them on Saturday. Only time will tell.

Should have "opened" his play book for Florida earlier this year.
Nice comeback. Why don't we actually have a winning season or 2 against a bunch of losers that is the MAC conference before you spout off about a team that playing in the national title game last year?
