Guest Zipster Jr... Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 The Article directs you to go to one of the "Team Akron busines locations pictured above." That's the Banner headline. Right? Today was at Subway... all I got was a coupon for "Buy One General Admission at $5.00 get Second One Free." That's not the Voucher for Free Admission. Anybody know where I can get the free vouchers?? Or are they all gone??? Already??? The article says a "select number of free vouchers"....probably not many... those of us who didn't get them get the "consolation prize???" Quote
Guest ***GUEST_Z.I.P. Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Earth to Zipster Jr. ..over. It says the COUPON is free -- not the TICKET! Damn! I thought I was a cheapskate!?! They're offering you a game ticket for 5 BUCKS -- and you want them to GIVE it to you?!? Welcome to capitalist society my friend. As some plutocrat once said: "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Five bucks and a second ducat free? That comes pretty close to disproving the above. Shades of Acme-Zip frankly (but the supermarket never gave the second one free, did they?) Please take advantage of this offer while it lasts Ziperrinos. I want to see a filled to the top Rubber Bowl from my Honolulu Watering Hole this week. Hopefully I see one of those Penn State punks so I can say something along the line of, "Gee -- wouldn't it be ironic if Penn State spent the holidays ho, ho, home, while Akron went bowling?" Quote
Zipsrifle Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 I've got a few of those See #5 for $5 on Nov. 5 coupons they were giving out when you walked through the gate at the MTSU game. The only problem is that you have to buy the tickets prior to Nov. 5. From what I read about the coupons, you can pick those up at the Team Akron stores like Giant Eagle. Unfortunately, most of the people I go with don't live near Akron so we're kinda screwed. I'm going to see if my one buddy in Canton can get a handfull of them to cover everyone....hopefully he's going to the game. I'm just a little bit frustrated since all of the promotions focus on the people that live in Akron, us out-of-towners get the shaft. I guess I can't blame UA marketing for that. They must figure that if you are going to drive 4-1/2 hours to a Zips game, you are going to buy a ticket regardless of the price. You gotta build your fan base at home first right? Quote
Zipsrifle Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Looks like UA made a little video to try to get people to the game. I hope that UA is putting this on TV back home. I would think that is going to be the only way to get the attention needed. Click on JD on the left. FILL THE BOWL! Quote
Z-Pouch Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 There are a ton of vouchers out there for free tickets. I think every elementary kid in the Akron/Summit county area got one at school. There is no catch other then it is first come, first serve basis in case the bowl sells out. I rounded up some from the neighborhood to give out to friends at work definately going to the game. Hats off to the marketing group for giving it their best shot to fill up the bowl. I can't see how it doesn't come close after all of their efforts and these vouchers floating around. Let's hope football fans in Akron show some appreciation. F Marshall Quote
zipper Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I click on Brookhart's pic but I get nothing but a blue screen. What gives? Quote
Guest ***GUEST_guest Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 the marketing department gave out 100,000 free tickets just so you guys know. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I click on Brookhart's pic but I get nothing but a blue screen. What gives? You might need to have real player installed (you can get a free download). If you are too cheap to have anything but dial-up (Like I am) the video sucks, buy you can get the idea. I'll check it out tomorrow when I get to work. Quote
Guest Zipster Jr Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Roger Zipster Sr...Over Under. I'm not asking for them to give me something for free... well.. then again .. maybe I am. I'm a long time fan who paid his way for years and find it a little frustrating to not to be able to locate the free vouchers per the ad/news release on GOZIPS.com. ZPOUCH says they gave them away to elementary school kids. Don't have kids in the public school system. So I went to one of the Team Akron businesses, and did not get the "free vouchers" as advertised. Some of them didn't even know what I was talking about and Subway only had the 2 for $5.00 tickets coupon. Zipster said "It says the COUPON is free -- not the TICKET! Damn! I thought I was a cheapskate!?! They're offering you a game ticket for 5 BUCKS -- and you want them to GIVE it to you?!?" The article on GOZIPS.com says " Fans may use this ticket for admission to the UA/Marshall game on Friday, November 5." It is for Free Admission -- not a free coupon. Earth to Zipster Sr... what moron is going to buy a coupon?? if you know someone who will, I have a few "coupons" to sell them. Anyway. You would think I could locate 4 or 5 of the 100k free tickets given out according to GUEST... that's all I'm going anyway... always do.... Just would've liked to have gotten a complimentary... Lord knows I've earned it... sitting through some seriously crappy football over the years... Quote
zipper Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 I bet if you called UAM directly they'd be happy to set you up. I had to call for something once and they were great. Quote
Guest UAM Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 Call us - 1-330-972-7468 or drop by the office - we'll hook you up Quote
Guest Zipster Jr Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Hey UAM... called them... they said couldn't or wouldn't hook me up without a voucher... recommended I try the ticket office and see if they had any vouchers left... Called ticket office they indicate all were distributed and they have or had none... I was told to go to Subway and get the $5.00 discount tickets... Could you believe they had a fan on the phone wanting to go to the game and they didn't or wouldn't offer me the tickets?? For crying out loud -- they're giving them away to other people....what's the difference??? Back where I started.... Leave it to UA.. I'm already a fan... but what if I wasn't and this was my first interaction with UA Football. We can't afford to turn away a fan...we have so many you know... We need bodies in the stands.... Quote
Zipsrifle Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Yea Jr. the same thing happened to me today. Said I had to stop by a Subway to get the vouchers. Not too worried about a sellout right now, they said they had 14,000 tickets left. That means they've sold 17,000 tickets so far...I think we'll top 22,000 no problem. I'll swing by Subway tomorrow, pick up the vouchers, hit the ticket office, and be good to go. Quote
Guest UAM Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Folks, Call me direct at 330-972-7279 and I will personally take care of any needs you have for THIS GAME. Thanks for your support! Mike Waddell Associate Director of Athletics Quote
zipboy Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Great job UAM, we appreciate your efforts. Are you with us for the goalpost? We need some size. Quote
Z-Pouch Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Does anyone know if the ticket vouchers (free) can be exchanged at the bowl ticket gates or did you have to go the university ticket office prior to Friday and exchange ? I'm hoping they are taking them at the bowl, I have a feeling all of the people that I gave them to are expecting to walk right up to the ticket gate and exchange. Any information would be appreciated so I can get things straightened away for these friends and let them know. I'll check first thing in the morning with UA but was hoping to get a headstart if info was out here. The free vouchers somewhat imply that they should be redeemed prior to gameday at the U ticket offices. It would be a simple mistake for people to just show up at the bowl with the vouchers as the instructions are alittle confusing. I would hope the U would be happy to let potential new fans in with no hassles but best to check. Quote
Zipsrifle Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 From my conversation earlier today with the ticket office, they close the ticket window at the JAR at 3:00 and open at the Stadium at 5:00 or 5:30, can't remember which. If I remember correctly from the article, they will accept the vouchers at the stadium. Quote
zipper Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Pretty sure they can either be redeemed at the ticket office or used as a ticket at the bowl. Someone I know asked UAM and she said they could be used either way no problem - something about how they had to put that on the tickets but they could be used at the gate, too. Quote
Guest the herd rep. Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Are you guys really expecting 22,000 even if it's cold and raining? That would be great, but I think its a pipe dream. If the weather is as bad as reported 40, windy and rain/snow there won't be more than 15,000 in the stands. I was also wondering how many people you guys need to meet the ncaa attendence requirement? I hope your students and alumni keep you guys from 1-aa, especially as your team continues to improve. Quote
