Can't make it this weekend, the drive from Michigan would a bit too long. ;) Personally, I would rather meet at an establishment in Akron. With all the buzz about Akron Restaurants not supporting the Zips, we need to do something to make that change. If we make it a tradition to take over the same place for every away game we can't make it to, then they will be wearing Akron gear on Saturdays. BTW, I won't be making the drive from Michigan much longer. The family and I are moving back to Elyria here in a few weeks.

I understand about meeting at a local establishment. We thought this would be a nice way to establish relations with the Rowdies and have some good fellowship. We can move it around..there are plenty of games on the tube.I'd like to settle down to a regular joint...put up an Oldies banner or something like that. Turn it into a Zips hangout...I'm thinking our best bet would be Rockne's on Merriman...locally owned and they support the Zips by purchasing advertising on the radio during the games. Centrally located too....but I guess the best place is the one that works for the most people.Hope to see you at the Temple game and good to hear you're moving home.Go Zips

No beer in the Tommy Evans lounge...right? :nono: I've been going to Winking Lizard in Fairlawn for quite some time to watch some of the away games on tv. I think the set up makes it a much better place to watch sports than Rocknes on Merriman.

Way to go AK-Rowdies. Sounds like an excellent plan.Being of the quaffing age I'll watch the game at the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn or atthe Galaxy in Wadsworth. Providing, of course, that the Galaxy can actually get WUAB.For the Indiana game they only had The Citadel at Wisconsin.

In the future we should try to take over downtown establishments. We've gotta get our downtown behind us. I say in the future we take over the Barley House and, once it opens, Damon's (which I believe is going to be located right next door.)

Are they "Zip friendly?"Rockne's is a sponsor of the Zips on the radio.Would we see a lot of scarlet and gray?

Damons is not Zips friendly in any sense. We could changethat by patronizing them early and often to get the message across to them quickly. Or you could choose to go to an establishment that already supports the Zips, such as Rockne's on Merriman. I know that they have a very large mural depicting Zips football placed on their wall on the restaraunt side. The more places support the Zips, the better, but you have to establish a base of operations first and then spread out to other places from there.

Ak-Oldies might want to coordinate with a downtown place and explain your group.See if they will run specials for the Zips games. Let them know the amount of people you will be bringing during away games that are on tv.

I like watching games at Damons. 4 bigscreens, other TVs at the bar, beer, wings, ribs, trivia.Just like most other places though, the help is often donning red/gray garb though. :puke:I can't blame 'em though. They get a lot of buck fans packed in there on Sats.

Well, I know this...from the amount of suggestions we've had to establish a base of operations...it's going to be difficult to please everyone.Dr. Z gives a good suggestion to talk to the establishment to see if we can "cut a deal."The question remains...who should we contact?I'm sure we can cut a deal with a lot of places, but which one would be the best?In our "advanced age" we all like, what we like. The input is appreciated.Perhaps we'll take some kind of vote via e-mail or poll via ZipsNation.
